I saw what what appeared to be a meteor yesterday as I was driving home. It was flying west over Perth Australia about 2:15pm.
The trajectory looked like it was coming straight down and I was expecting a big BOOM!!! The tail pointing upwards. I franticaly pulled into my driveway and grabbed my camera (by this time it was already moving further away).
Strangely even though the tail was pointing upwards it appeared to be moving around the earth like it was in orbit.
In the above pic it is already a long, long way away. When it was overhead the tail still appeared to point upwards (hence the expectation of a big boom).
Through the digital display on the camera the head of the comet looked silvery or metallic but in the photo... nothing
Edit: Forgot to mention there was also a helicopter flying back and forth so somebody was aware of it.
