I'd be curious what the C's would say about this epidemiologists disappearance. It's a safe bet to say he may have known too much, but what? And who would be threatened? Was he going to blow the lid off something?

He's been missing since Feb 12, 2018. So far there are no clues. Like he just vanished into thin air. His keys, car, cell phone, and his dog, all found at his home.

The mystery is deepening in the case of a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention employee who has been missing for over two weeks, as police reveal he didn't get the promotion he wanted before he vanished.

"This is an extremely unusual set of circumstances," Maj. Michael O'Connor of the Atlanta Police told reporters today.

Timothy Cunningham, 35, a commander in the Public Health Service who has been sent to respond to public health emergencies including the Ebola virus and the Zika virus, was told on Feb. 5 that he didn't get a promotion he was up for, O'Connor said.

Cunningham came into work on Feb. 6 and 7, but then on Feb. 8 and 9 he called in sick, O'Connor said.

The next workday -- Monday, Feb. 12 -- was the last day Cunningham reported to work and the last day he has been seen, O'Connor said.

At about 7:15 a.m., while on his way to work, Cunningham called his sister and they spoke briefly, O'Connor said.

At work, Cunningham met with his supervisor, and during that meeting, he was given the explanation for why he did not receive the promotion, O'Connor said. After that meeting, Cunningham asked to go home sick, O'Connor said.

At 9:12 a.m., while driving home, Cunningham called his mother but she did not pick up and he did not leave a message.

He was never heard from since. His concerned relatives drove down from Maryland, finding all of his belongings, including his dog, at his home, according to police and ABC affiliate WSB.

"The most unusual factor in this case is that every single belonging that we are aware of was located in the residence. So his keys, his cell phone, credit cards, debit cards, wallet, all his Identification, passport -- everything you can think of, we’ve been able to locate. None of those items are missing," O'Connor said. "The circumstances of this one -- just beyond the fact that he is a CDC employee -- but just as a general person are unusual in that everything that you would need to sustain yourself is at his home. So there is no real explanation for that."

O'Connor said there is no reason to believe his employment at the CDC has anything to do with his disappearance.

Cunningham allegedly told a neighbor to have the neighbor's wife erase Cunningham's phone number from her contact list, O'Connor said, adding that he does not have all of the specifics on that exchange.

There is also no evidence of foul play, police said.

"We're looking at everything" and nothing had been ruled out, O'Connor said.

Cunningham's family and Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment, police said.

The CDC in a statement called Cunningham "a highly respected member of our CDC family."

"Dr. Cunningham's colleagues and friends at CDC hope that he is safe," the CDC said in a statement. "We want him to return to his loved ones and his work -- doing what he does best as a CDC disease detective -- protecting people's health."

There was also a letter containing white powder delivered to a military base yesterday where three exposed Marines went to the hospital and 11 total fell ill. And no real update on it today and the substance is still being investigated. The news today seems to be focused on politics and gun control.

Missing CDC worker likely drowned, no signs of foul play: Officials

A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention employee has been found dead nearly two months after he mysteriously vanished, authorities said today.

The body of Timothy Cunningham, 35, was found Tuesday night along the bank of the Chattahoochee River, according to the Atlanta Police Department, after people fishing saw a body and called 911.

There were no signs of foul play and the preliminary cause of death is drowning, the medical examiner said. The manner of death has not been determined at this time, the medical examiner said.

"We may never be able to tell you how he got into the river," Maj. Michael O'Connor of the Atlanta Police told reporters today.

It's not clear where Cunningham entered the river, which had been previously searched, officials said.

Cunningham, a Harvard graduate, was wearing favorite jogging suit, officials said. He also was an avid collector rare stones and had some in his pocket when he was found, officials said.

Cunningham was identified today by dental records, officials said, and the autopsy was completed on Wednesday.

The condition of the body is consistent with Cunningham being gone since Feb. 12, the medical examiner said. The toxicology report is pending.

Cunningham, a commander in the Public Health Service who responded to public health emergencies including the Ebola virus and the Zika virus, disappeared on Feb. 12 after he said he was sick and left his Atlanta office.

All of his belongings, including his dog, were left at his home, according to police and ABC affiliate WSB.
"This is an extremely unusual set of circumstances," Maj. O'Connor told reporters in February.

"The most unusual factor in this case is that every single belonging that we are aware of was located in the residence," O'Connor said. "His keys, his cell phone, credit cards, debit cards, wallet, all his identification, passport -- everything you can think of, we’ve been able to locate. None of those items are missing."

In March, Cunningham's sister, Tiara, told ABC News that her parents were "remaining positive and prayerful."

"I have been trying my best to go through daily activities such as work without getting distracted," she said. "But no one can really prepare you for seeing your face or your brother's face on the news while at work."
