Modes of Channeling?

Until a couple of years ago I was a total skeptic regarding the very idea of channeling. And I had the idea that it was all just a bunch of 'New Age' malarkey. But personal experiences of the past two years have made me re-think much of what I thought I knew about how what we perceive as the structure of reality.

I've been reading through the wave series. I see the conversations with the C's being conducted one character at a time.

But I wonder: Is it normal for channeled information to come to someone more directly? Say, in the form of verifiable knowledge that feels more like a vivid recall of a first person memory; but of events that were many millennia ago, and at a seemingly impossible level of detail?

What you are referring to sounds like past life recall.
This can sometimes be verified, i.e. remembered locations
and also people that were known.
As for channeling in general I suggest using the search function on this forum.
There is quite a bit of info.

If you are reading the online Wave series, be sure to include the Adventures series in your explorations of this topic. And like Leo40 suggests, there is alot in the forum, too. There is quite a bit to absorb in order to get a sense of just how much checking, double-checking and verifying went into and continues still with the C's experiment.

I think it is certainly possible to receive information in the manner you describe, especially with regard to a subject you have developed a focus on. Whether that is channeling or some other type of inspiration might be difficult to say. Knowing for certain where that information is coming from and whether or not it is true would require a healthy dose of skepticism and constant testing for verification, plus some dedication to self-study. It is remarkably easy to be duped or confused, and we are all prone to fooling ourselves in very crafty ways.
