It's nice when people do little things to make things a little less pathological :)

Yes, I like the new version of dolls. :)

Changes Bratz Dolls to Look Like Real Girls

When examining a Bratz doll, you might notice the toy resembles a weirdly sexy lady-alien with plumped-up lips rather than the 12-year-old girl she is marketed to.

Frustrated by this trend, Tasmanian artist Sonia Singh went to local thrift shops with a mission to find dolls that were in need of a very necessary make-under.

“These lil fashion dolls have opted for a ‘tree change,’ swapping high-maintenance glitz ‘n’ glamour for down-to-earth style,” Singh writes on her Tumblr.

Singh repaints their faces, re-conditions their hair, molds them new shoes and then dresses them in clothing sewn and knit by her mother.

I wanted to show that reality is cool,” Lamm told TIME. “And a lot of toys make kids go into fantasy, but why don’t they show real life is cool? It’s not perfect, but it’s really all we have. And that’s awesome.”

Singh did a great job on those dolls. With some of them, you'd never guess what they originally looked like and the improvements look way better. Thanks for sharing, Miss K! :)

It' so funny.. ;D .. when I read the thread topic , I was envisioning that this Mom was reducing breast size..and I thought I would take a look to see exactly how she was doing that.....

Only to be shocked as heck to see that this "generation's" dolls facial features have grown so grotesquely exaggerated as to resemble a carved up porn star !! Or an alien hybrid ? Or ? Porn star.

It makes me sad for our little girls that they are being so groomed to such an inappropriate model..Gloria Steinem said the same thing back in the day..lol.

..and dang I guess I haven't seen a doll for about 10 years! ..At last glance, I was also thinking that they looked like porn stars, and had almost no waist. But, the breasts were HUGE, that's why I was thinking about a slight change in that..my how times have changed.. :lol2:

I mean I was truly shocked at the new "standard". Horrifc and cartoonishly, so, in a stripper like way. ..lafn ..nervously..

A clear improvement :)
If only those responsible for design and production of such dolls thought so too.

Yes they look so much better after the makeunder,
when I saw the pictures, I felt as if she had saved the poor little things from a cruel life as alien sex slaves, and given them a beautiful safe childhood instead

Wow. The artist did a great job capturing the childlike innocence. They are beautiful little dolls. The "before" pictures look bizarre.

I agree Miss.K, thank you for the article.

In my childhood dolls looked like this:

The dolls look very beautiful after the makeunder, as if healed from some serious disease. It's mindboggling that such "toys" are allowed for sale: isn't it a real crime against normal and healthy childhood?

Thanks for sharing Miss K. Absolutely, the dolls really do look way much better without that war paint and super cute with those cool knitted clothes.

Yeah, they look a lot more like actual humans after the "makeunder". I wonder if there is some money in this, are there enough parents who care about the images their daughters receive from their toys? I think that's something people would make and sell on the personal craft site Etsy. I wonder how you would un-ponerize boys' toys? They were mostly action figure soldiers with guns and war gear. The superheroes were pretty tame though, in contrast.

I wouldn't go as far as making dools like that illegal. But I think they wouldn't be too common in a healthy society. (like they are symptom of disease, not the cause)
