Morning Sickness

The Force is Strong With This One
At 5 weeks pregnant, the morning sickness is starting to kick in, pretty much on point with my last pregnancy. My last one 5 years ago was pretty bad between weeks 5 and 12 and the only things I could eat were carbs - plain bread, plain pasta, couscous. Obviously, this time around this is not an option. I can still eat meat most of the time, but some mornings just the thought of any meat makes me sick. I need some help and would appreciate any advise on what to eat while staying true to the diet. I would like to stock up while I still can enter the grocery store without gagging :)

Hello Firefly!

I would definitely have a batch of bone broth available so you can have it every single day throughout your pregnancy. Here is more information:

If you are very nauseous, it is going to help you keep you healthy and strong.

The problem with morning sickness is that just about everything makes you nauseous.

Are you on a ketogenic diet? A paleo diet? How many carbs do you normally eat every day?

Often morning sickness can be relieved by supplementing vitamin B6. Some find taking B12 with it helps also. I don't know if this will help in your situation, but it might be something to try :)

Thank you everyone for getting back to me. I am on week 8 now and ginger tea has proven to be most helpful so far. Laura, you are correct - just about everything makes me sick. I am on paleo diet. But lately it's pretty difficult to stay true to the diet. I can't eat fish at all, meat - i try to eat it as much as I can when I can. My substitution for traditional crackers and saltines is boiled plain potatoes with salt or kasha. I know it's not ideal, but it works. Dugdeep - thank you for the recommendation, I will try B6 and B12.
