This morning, just before dawn, a coworker and I were driving out into the desert to begin preparations for the day's work. We glanced over to a range of mountains towards the northeast, about 50 miles away, and witnessed what appeared to be a missile of some sort speeding straight up from someplace behind the mountains. It was very fast moving, and left a temporary trail. It vanished suddenly, then reappeared much further up as the sky got brighter. Then, abruptly, it quickly turned what appeared to be 90 degrees then vanished again...this time for good. The direction it seemed to originate from is, as far as I know, remote desert. This happened just north of Phoenix Arizona. It was the first time I have ever witnessed something like this. For me, it was unusual, although I am sure the military have rockets that can execute such turns.
