My First...

The Living Force
Wow! I just saw my first meteor, cometary fragment or whatever it was come streaking down the sky. It was 1:05 am (GMT-5). I was standing outside here in South Georgia, looking at the southern sky, when this something came streaking down far off into the South. It was no mere 'shooting star', rather it was bright, had a long tail and was probably falling for about 4 to 5 seconds almost straight down somewhere farther south than me.

It really gives me a 'reality' about all those sightings others have made.

Congrats Bud. I tend to see many of these streaking lights or fireballs in my profession. Anyway a few nights ago, I took my sleeping bag and went out into the garden and just lay down there looking up at the clear night skies. It was around 10.00 pm in the evening. I laid there for about an hour or so. I counted 3 of these "fireballs" most of them for just a brief few seconds.

Also counted 11 "moving stars". What I mean is that these things that looked like stars suddenly begin to move and then disappear! And something that was really unique. All the time that I've watched the sky at night, I've never seen anything like it. This thing that I saw was like a flash-light going off. It's like when you take a picture in the dark with a flash. It was very high in the sky and lasted for a split second only. I guess some thing took a mug shot of me!
