My Post Deleted?

A Disturbance in the Force
Would anyone be so generous as to explain to me why my post in the Psychology section, "Some Notes On Gun Control", was deleted?
It does not appear to have been moved to anywhere else in the forum, at least in so far as the search function is concerned.
My post contained no spam, no profanity, and was highly relevant to the field of psychology... Also, I briefly introduced myself there.

Your post was not deleted but moved out of sight, after the moderators found out that it was posted on several other sites on the internet:

on the same day on sott
http://www.sott.net/article/256010-Jon-Stewart-mocks-Alex-Jones-rant-Guns-needed-to-fight-imaginary-Hitler

and it looks like the same message was perhaps cut and pasted from other sources in the internet like
_http://land.netonecom.net/tlp/ref/notesOnGunControl.php
_http://www.mail-archive.com/osint@yahoogroups.com/msg54628.html
years back.

So you DO look like a spammer. This forum has a very specific orientation and aim, and the people who join read the guidelines, agree to them, and then write an intro to tell us a few things about themselves and how they found this forum, why they decided to join, things like that.

You wrote this before you copy-pasted the above document:

Hello readers. After much time spent observing I have decided I may as well contribute something. What I had in mind for today is not exactly a primary interest of mine, but is relevant considering certain events taking place today. These are some notes I compiled years ago. I figured a less culturally theoretical approach to the issue of gun violence, and a more scientific one, might be of some use in generating functional conclusions.

It's harder for people to read something posted by somebody they don't know anything about. And why should they? You see?

I see. However, as I stated, I wrote it a few years ago.

And if you find this post elsewhere on the internet, it is because I posted it years years ago on the now defunct GNN.tv, and it disseminated from there. You will notice the author has the same moniker as I do here. So it is a problem that I have posted this elsewhere years ago?

From our experience, when someone comes to our forum and posts something they wrote years ago or recently, they usually don't hang around to read the rest of the forum, interact, basically participating in this online community like the rest of us do. It looks that they come to just say their piece. And if you read the forum guidelines you will see that this forum, like I mentioned above, has a very specific purpose. So, if you want to participate here and benefit from the discussions and volumes of information, I suggest you start over: read the guidelines, make sure you understand what we do here and that you agree, and then write your introduction in the newbies section.

I understand, but as I said, I have been reading this forum for some time. What I meant to infer by this is that I am already familiar with much of the material here, particularly that related to ponerology and the fourth way. My post was intended to be a contribution and generate dialogue, which I was prepared and eager to participate in with sincerity. What other people apparently do when they post something they have previously written has no relevance to me personally, and I'm not sure why a vague and subjective resemblance to posters of the past should lead to such immediate and overriding measures. I understand what you do here, since it is what I do elsewhere. I respect your decision, though it appears inexplicable and heavy handed. Perhaps if I had posted something written by somebody else it would not have been such a concern. Perhaps not. Perhaps you can be too rigidly discriminatory. Perhaps I can be presumptuous. Perhaps I will obey. Possibly not. In any case, may the force be with you.

Just so you're aware, that type of attitude makes it look rather obvious that removing your post was the right move. If you are sincere about participating here, then please take this as an invitation to post on a topic other than gun ownership, since that seems to be a sacred cow of yours, and we'll see where we go from there.

Methinks that you are making a mountain out of a molehill after a simple request that has to do with proper manners when you enter a new place.
