I googled my name and my posts to this forum came up
please explain how this could have happened
 
Hi Lyria7767lyndy - since this is your first forum post, I'm rather confused by your statement. Did you search using your real name and your forum post came up - or did you search with your screen name?

Unless your real name was mentioned in a thread, it would not come up on a google search as being related to this forum. As part of the world wide web, all forum content comes up on google - via screen name - so, again, a bit confused about your statement.

In short - you're not being very clear, so please clarify. Also, could you grab a screen shot of the google search page?
 
You and me both, Anne. Is this person saying that they wrote this post, googled their username, and then it came up, and they feel betrayed by Google for this? I'm having difficulty trying to work out exactly what the meaning and purpose of this post was.

Perhaps one for Baked Noodles? ;)
 
Logically (unless this is just playing with our heads), I'd say this forum member must also have had another log-in name. And that she/he adopted this new log-in name when they found that this was an open discussion forum (and therefore searchable using Google), rather than private like Casschat.

I'd have thought this would have been clear from the fact that you don't need to log in to actually read everybody's contributions - but there you go.

But Lyria will of course need to confirm all this and explain further - otherwise this is definitely a Baked Noodles item.

I have a document of the google page, I can open and not be connected to the Net. I googled my Name and the search lead me to this site. www.cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php?topic=5090.msg33977#msg33977. I tried to do it again but the citation was gone.
Ottershrew is correct. I have been a member in another name (login Name). You can obviously see from the web Page I just gave you, you will kwon who my precious member name was.

I know I belong here with you all. My goal is to continue my work and help others according to this fourthway approach. However, I am very affraid that people could find out about me and what I said in my posts to the sott forum.

How can I upload the picture dock of the google page?

Lyria, if you have lost your login access to the previous username, you can have the password reset as long as you have access to the email address that you registered the initial username under. Once you reset the password and log in with your old username, simply edit the post you made and remove the statements that you are worried about.
 
Lyria, I think I understand, but maybe not. Let me tell you what I understand here. Apparently you googled your REAL name and somehow posts you made here to the forum under your forum name, somehow showed up on google? Is that it? If that is true, then that's pretty serious! I don't think I would recommend publishing the document showing your real name, so just send it as an attachment to sott(at)sott.net and we'll have a look at it and see if we can figure out what is going on.

where, if this is your post, you apparently signed your real name to it. If that is the case, why do you write:

Obviously, if you sign your name to a forum post, it is going to get picked up by google!!!

If you do not want your name there, that's easy: edit the post and remove it!

Hi Lyria,

I understand your concern here. I don't use my real name on these forums, for reasons I still don't fully understand, and I have to figure out completely I guess, but for the time being I like to remain anonymous.

As far as I can tell you used your other login name, so not lyria7767lyndy which you use here, to make a post to the thread you mentioned. If I'd have to guess what post it is exactly that you made in that thread, then I'd guess based on similarity in login name, and I'd say it's post number 6. If I'm right and that post is yours, the first thing I observe is that you wrote your real name (or at least that's what it looks like) at the end of it. That's another guess, because I do not know your real name, so that makes two guesses already on my part. Therefore, please correct me if I'm wrong here.

But, if I'm right, the story is rather simple. You posted your real name on the forum, and now it shows up when you google your real name. I advise you to log with under your other login name and edit the post where your real name is in. Just click on the 'edit' button/link in your post. Then remove the name. Google is updated frequently and soon that post will not show up in the results anymore. However, there may be other copies on the net, so that only works for google's link to this forum.

I could be way off, but I guess that's the story here :)

I have tied to get a password to get into my original username ljvh769 but I no longer have an email account with bajabroadband. I can not get in to my old account or profile. How can I use my new email address at mac.com to edit my real name out of the only post from ljvh769 as my user name submitted with my real name in it. I feel so stupid to have put it there. Please help me delete my name out of my posts.
I do not want all post deleted because I feel I have provided the community of this forum with some good data and information.
 
OK I fixed it for you, it will still appear on google for a while until the cached version they have is replaced.
