Need Advice!

Hi, everyone.

Me and my wife need to take a decision for the next move, we're kinda trapped, others are in the same situation like us. Here is our current situation: left Canada in summer 2015 due to a "medical" emergency, recovered, since then working remotely from home (Europe) for same canadian company. My wife is a nurse still in Canada (Quebec) and wants to leave due to the travel restrictions deadline for unvaccinated people (November 30th last day). My country is under pressure to push the vax percentage over 70%, we're now the first country with the highest Covid mortality (500 deaths per day, in reality deaths to Covid are probably even lower), not "smart" to go to the hospital (could provide a video link of a guy working as stretcher in a local hospital, horror stories, almost no one with Covid symptoms left the hospital alive). Can you guys offer some advice where my wife could go? A french speaking European country (France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland) would be good, we need to act fast.

Thank you.

Hi Mgse, I'm sorry to hear about your dificulties. I don't have any advice, but I do have a few questions that will hopefully make things a little clearer.

Could your wife move to where you are? Does she want/need to work in the country she moves to? If so, is it actually possible for her to work in any of the countries you listed with her Canadian qualifications/ licence? Secondly, have you checked whether those same countries already have vax mandates? I believe France has mandatory vaccines for healthcare workers.

I know this option may not be the most appealing, but has she considered taking the vaccine (preferably non mRNA) and following the health protocol?

Yes, she could.

Does she want/need to work in the country she moves to?
No (where I am), Yes to countries listed if possible

She can work in Luxembourg (renewed her work permit recently for Luxembourg), applied for work permit in 2019 for Switzerland but needed to do 6 months of voluntary work (unpaid), dropped it; Belgium and France probably have mandatory vaccines.

Has she considered taking the vaccine (preferably non mRNA) and following the health protocol?
Yes, as last solution (non-mRNA).

Unfortunately, I don't have any advice for you either, Mgse, although I am wondering whether your wife and yourself have been living apart since 2015? Can't she join you at your location somewhere in Europe and take it from there? If your relationship is fairly good you could support each other, when things are getting rougher, but I am under the impression that you and your wife are willing to live and work in different countries. Maybe I am missing something?

Yes, we do live apart since 2015 except for holidays and yes she can join me at my current location in Europe. Your impression is good, we're willing to live and work in different countries, but I don't want to have another member of my family injured or having long-term health issues due to the jab (lost my mother in March 2020 because of "Covid"). Living together now is our main focus. Tough times indeed.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

It needs to be considered what is manageable for your wife and yourself. Because a move means giving up everything your wife worked for (new location and flat, jobless, finance situation, family?, etc.) and puts yourself also in a new one, if she comes to you. Compared to the protocol and a non mRNa vaccination.

What is your wife saying to these two options?

I've started to build a small house in the rural area away from the city but it won't be ready until next summer, the plan was to move into it, rely on the land and other local resources and stay away from jabs at all costs. I decided to not go back to Canada (stayed with my parents for recovery), this way of living apart created the opportunity to save some money that is invested right now into the house. The only reason for her stay is the job, nothing else. I thought that she could buy some time until April without getting the jab, but now it seems impossible. As last option she's willing to take the jab. Will the universe give us a third option (not losing hope)?

Hi Mgse, regarding Luxembourg I can give you an update on the current situation in the country. On 1st November, the government implemented a law requiring restaurants and bars to enforce the CovidCheck to all employees and clients. The law also gives employers from any sector the possibility of enforcing the CovidCheck on their employees. Like with many other countries, in order for the Pass to be valid you need to be either vaccinated, recovered or tested.

While in the private sector most companies haven't (yet) implemented CovidCheck, certain public establishments are already requiring their staff to show a valid Pass. There's an article from 20th October that provides an update on what a number of companies are doing. I am listing below the information regarding the major hospitals in the country as it could be of use to your wife:

Centre hospitalier de Luxembourg (2,600 employees)
CovidCheck is "already in place" at the CHL, for all employees. The control is done "in the departments". The institution did not tell Paperjam whether it would finance the tests of unvaccinated people in the future, nor what the consequences would be for an employee refusing the CovidCheck (if he has to pay for his tests). The current vaccination rate is not given either.

Robert Schuman Hospitals Foundation (2,310 employees)
The CovidCheck has been in operation at the Robert Schuman Hospitals since mid-June where the vaccination rate has reached 87%. For the remaining 13%, the tests "will remain free of charge", the establishment assures us. Vaccinated and non-vaccinated patients must show their QR code at the entrance "every 48 hours".

Emile Mayrisch Hospital (2,020 employees)
All employees of the hospital in Esch-sur-Alzette have been using CovidCheck "for some time". The vaccination/healing certificates have been linked to their badges by the IT department, allowing them to enter the establishment without having to provide a test. Will they become chargeable for unvaccinated employees (the rate of which is not specified)? "This has not been decided. The question should be raised at the next board meeting on Monday.

Stëftung Hëllef Doheem (1,960 employees)
The caretakers of the home help service have already been subject to the CovidCheck scheme "for several months". Their vaccination rate is about 80%. The administrative staff prefer to work from home. "We will analyse in detail the law passed and any new recommendations to decide whether we should change our approach.
A first dispute has been reported after a caretaker at the Robert Schuman Hospital was fired for refusing to provide a valid Pass despite the fact that the hospital is offering free tests to its employees. What this more recent article from Wednesday notes is that now both the Centre hospitalier de Luxembourg and the Emile Mayrish Hospital listed above also provide their staff with free tests so it looks like hospitals are being considerate towards unvaccinated staff members. As to whether they are keen to take in new people who are not vaccinated, that is hard to say.

I hope things turn out well for both of you.

Eboard10, thanks for your detailed info. Wish I could move back in time and change here and there, hoping the future will look different. On the funny side, my next project would be a "time machine", one of its action would turn the balance of this beautiful planet into a STO planet.

I also found this news, maybe there is a chance?
I also just found the same information.
Major triumph againt the medical fascists

So that would at least make sure that she can remain genetically unaltered.
Of course, it doesn't affect the upcoming travel restrictions.

The health care professionals here in Europe are still under threat. I just got a call yesterday that the genetically unaltered nurses will have to take a test daily before work here in Germany.

But this information is from the beginning of October. Maybe you can check this.
