He talks about elements being created in the centers of stars, which then explode and send their material flying throughout the universe.
Now, I'm not going to pretend *I* know all the answers, but my limited understand is that elements are actually being formed in the corona of stars, where the fusion is happening due to electrical stresses. Excess levels of electrical stress then cause things like CME's, novas, etc., which distribute those elements far and wide.
Having said that, who's to say there isn't some electrical process deep in space producing new elements without the benefit of a star? Would a Z-pinch event be enough to produce elements without the accompanying glow of a large scale fusion & plasma event?
I think until the astronomers start taking the electric universe side of things with a bit more gravitas, best to take their pearls of wisdom with a pearl of salt ;)
