The reason I think this story is significant is because it was spread via video through the internet via sites like YouTube(dot)com. I mean, even CNN reported that this incident probably wouldn't have made the newscast, but they said the internet-circulated video "caused Allen's senatorial campaign to go into meltdown overnight." That's pretty powerful. On YouTube, click on Sort By -> View Count and it's there at the top.
There are several videos of this on YouTube, with the most popular one garnering nearly 200,000 views (which likely translates into over a million views via other means of sharing the video) in just a few days. It also pushed it onto mainstream news.
Nice to see the Pathocracy flash with 450 views and Pentagon Strike with over 18,000 (several copies) while I was there.
