NEW LIGHTBULBS IN CANCER SCARE

Wednesday April 20 2011 by Mark Reynolds and Alison Little

HEALTH fears were raised last night over the use of energy saving lightbulbs after a report claimed they contain cancer causing chemicals.

Scientists warn that prolonged contact with the European Union-imposed bulbs could put people at risk after discovering that they “pulse out” poisonous materials when switched on.

The bulbs are already widely used in Britain after the EU ordered all traditional incandescent lightbulbs to be phased out by the end of this year.

While it was known that harmful amounts of mercury are released if one of the new “green” bulbs breaks, experts have now discovered they also emit several carcinogenic chemicals.

These include phenol – a poison used by the Nazis to kill concentration camp victims – and the toxins naphthalene and styrene, which are released as a form of steam when the bulb is switched on.

The German scientists behind the report advise that the bulbs should not be left on for extended periods, especially near a person’s head.

Researcher Peter Braun, who carried out the tests at the independent Berlin Alab Laboratory, said: “For such carcinogenic substances it is important they are kept as far away as possible from the human environment.”

He said the bulbs could be especially harmful if left on near a child’s head all night or used to read by for long periods near an adult.

Andreas Kirchner of the Federation of German Engineers, said: “Electrical smog develops around these lamps. I, therefore, use them only very economically. They should not be used in unventilated areas and definitely not in the proximity of the head.”

Experts in Britain insisted the risks were relatively small and urged people not to panic but admitted more research was needed

Dr Michelle Bloor, senior lecturer in Environmental Science at Portsmouth University, said: “Further independent studies would need to be undertaken to back up the presented German research.”

However, the study reopens the row over Brussels’ decision to impose the bulbs, known as compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs).

When the findings were broadcast in Germany earlier this week, the country’s environmental protection agency was forced to issue a warning against “public hysteria”. The existence of phenol in the bulbs is particularly alarming. The same substance was used by the Nazis as a means of killing thousands during the Second World War.

Manfred Santen, a chemistry expert from Greenpeace, said: “The German research council classifies phenol and the related cresol as possibly carcinogenic; the European Union regards it at least as genetically damaging.

“There are thus good reasons to stop emissions of these substances, however small they may be.”

Some councils in Britain have already refused to pick up the new bulbs because of the risk from mercury.

But the Department for the Environment remains adamant that CFLs are safe.

According to advice on its website: “Energy efficient light bulbs are not a danger to the public.

“Although they contain mercury, limited at 5mg per lamp, it cannot escape from a lamp that is intact.

“In any case, the very small amount contained in an energy efficient bulb is unlikely to cause harm even if the lamp should be broken.”

Despite this, the Government website warns that anyone breaking a low energy bulb should ventilate the room and wait at least 15 minutes before clearing up the breakage using rubber gloves.

It continues: “Put the broken pieces of glass into a plastic bag and seal it. You must not throw the bag in your normal household rubbish but take it to your local waste and recycling centre.”

Well no one can accuse TPTB of letting the grass grow under their feet or not thoroughly covering all bases. They've done an excellent job
of poisoning body and mind alike, haven't they? A long time ago, looking at ugly buildings in polluted cities, watching the drones all file in for work and not knowing what I do now, I thought "someone really hates us".
OK, need to focus on something positive.

Thank You for this info. I was thinking before that this new eco bulbs are harmful not only due mercury but because the light from this eco bulbs is very irritating and other gases when under electricity creates flickering and other spectrums of radiation (not only visible light).

Well this is not surprising. The whole need to switch to low energy bulbs always seemed suspicious to me for the simple reason that it is claimed that it is necessary in order to "save energy", and not just for the government but for you and me too! Yeah right! Since when have the powers that be been interested in helping the average joe save money?? Unless there is some other good reason to explain this changeover, we can only conclude that the real agenda here is to poison as many people as possible.

I know that common sense is a perception, BUT... almost everyday I continue to be amazed to what lengths TPTB force policy down our throats that seems to defy common sense. These "energy saving" lightbulbs, genetically modified frankenfoods, and forcing fluoride into our bodies are a mere FEW examples that reinforce my view that "they" apparently, gotta be, intentionally trying to harm us physically and control us with unrelenting outright lies. I can just think of no other reason, except that I may be crazy. I DON'T THINK SO. And... when people point out TPTB's seemingly lack of what I think is common sense, people are conspiracy theorist and become targets for ridicule and possible distruction. Forgive me, sometimes I am so frustrated and I just get so pissed off at what I see. My ramblings are symptomatic of my simple loss for words.!.!.!
:headbash: :curse: :headbash:

Al Today, you took the words right out of my mouth. And everyone thinks we are paranoid schizophrenics. Hooray!
Excuse me, I must take a break to have a loooong scream....

Well I promptly went out this morning and managed to purchase a number of the old fashion incandescent light bulbs. These are still available in the UK if you look hard enough in old type hardware stores. Buy them and stock up I say - while you still can :).

I used to sit almost directly underneath one of those light bulbs while sat at my computer. It was about 5 years ago. A few months after I developed a very small crustiness on my bald patch at the back of my head. It turned out to be a 'Squamous-cell carcinoma' and it was frozen off a the hospital.

I haven't had any trouble since, because I'd already suspected the light bulb, as I'd read that they might cause cancer, so I threw those bulbs out and now only use the old ones.

You can still buy the old 40w and 60w bulbs in the uk. I looked last week while in the Asda store and the 60w bulbs were a 2 pack for £2. I think the 100w bulbs were phased out a while back.

When the world moves en-masse to adopt some new technology with such pressure from governments and industry, you just know there's more to the story than meets the eye. Some people are very aware of this, and there has been a great deal of caution and anxiety over these bulbs. But the problem is that it has been really hard to see exactly where the danger/attack is coming from. I'd like to know more about these chemical out-gassings from these bulbs and how they work and what its effect is. Is it something more than plastics heating up and releasing chemicals? I don't know.

But there is one big item which struck me about these bulbs which indicate a possible reason they have been installed with such force and ubiquity across our living and working environments.

They emit radio frequencies in the 15-35,000 hertz range. They are little radio broadcasters.

Essentially, it works like this: The current bulbs flicker on and off several thousand times per second. This is well above, (I believe), our ocular ability to detect, and so it doesn't have the same effect on our cognitive organs as the standard fluorescent tube lighting, (which, flickering 120 times per second, may be one of the great evils of the technological empire!) But for each of those on/off flickers, electricity has to pulse. Electricity and the electro-magnetic spectrum are tied at the hip, so for each electrical switch, a magnetic pulse is sent out into the environment. It is upon this principal that our radio/television/cell phone communications system depends.

So these little bulbs, unless they are shielded, broadcast this frequency from wherever they are installed.

I don't know exactly what 15,000 to 35,000 hertz in the EM spectrum does to the human nervous system, BUT I do know that such frequencies can be modulated, (this means high frequencies can be used to imitate in every important way low frequencies, and it is in the low frequency range where the human nervous system is most affected, around 10 to 400 hertz.) Having a bunch of CFL bulbs around the house would effectively create a big bubble of carrier wave, and I wonder if it is possible to, from a distance, use that bubble as a kind of amplifier for HAARP-like activities.

At this point the electronics gets away from me, but it seems from my layman's knowledge to be well within the range of possibility using common technology. The whole thing seems really suspicious. The worst thing is that even if you don't allow CFL bulbs into your apartment, the people living adjacent who might use them are affecting you. EM travels through brick and plaster just fine.

But here's the thing. . . Unlike with cell phones, fluorescent tubes and TV sets, I don't actually feel any fuzzing out when I'm near active CFL bulbs. That almost worries me more, because something else is probably going on. (I think it is highly unlikely that they are benign, given what we know about governments and industry.)

I don't understand how light works or what a high on/off frequency does in the visual spectrum, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was something going on there as well. Perhaps as the Wave approaches and things change, it will be convenient to be able to manipulate light in a certain way. . ? The C's commented once that DNA was re-written using light, but didn't get into the specifics of that. Maybe we could ask?

Thanks Woodsman. You've brought up some points that I can not refute.!.!.!

Valid points to ponder I think. :umm: :umm: :umm:

Thanks for the information. I'll go buy more standard bulbs (I've got enough for a long time already!) I'm pretty sure they are still available in my small town. I don't have any of these twisty weird 'energy saving' kind. And hopefully I'll never have to. I've always been suspicious of them simply because they have a 'proper disposal method' and that right there sent up red flags.

But wow, it's much worse than I even thought when they first came out! Not suprising, but seriously annoying and I am really just pretty p*ssed of all of the people 'trying to help' (their electric bills, the planet) and what happens? You are on the 'soft kill' track. Thanks for trying to help the planet. In otherwords...helping the planet is the common folks road to early death. How sick. :(

And arrrggggg!

Edited for: Spelling and maybe my language choice is a bit strong without an *

What about led lamps? I read somewhere they're unhealthy too, but that can well be a maneuvre to keep us buying energy saving bulbs.
Any advice?

phenol – a poison used by the Nazis to kill concentration camp victims

Hmm , Don't get me wrong , I am not defending Nazis but now it looks like they literally used everything that they had in their hands to kill people in concentration camps.
Also , I don't like that mercury driven light bulbs. Light it emits is just crappy imo and I also feel disturbed by it.
I am switching to LEDs.
