New dream

I thought I'd write down a really vivid dream which I've experienced 3 times over the past few months, it's interesting to me because of it recurrence and because it is a new 'type' of dream for me.

I am in my house, on the ground or first floor, with a strong desire to climb stairs and explore a large network of rooms I know of on higher floors but rarely visit. I am trying to persuade my housemates to join me (made up of friends who I do not live with in real life). I walk through these rooms which seem vaguely familiar to my dream self, they are mysterious to me because we have no need for them but they are large and well decorated. The final room is a child's bedroom, small and the most secluded and quiet part of the house. In the first dream the room contained an aquarium, unknown to us, which had been left by the landlord and was in need of attention or the fish would die. In the last dream the other night the fish were dead and the water mostly evaporated. Aquariums, vivariums, zoos and their occupants are all common dream symbols for me and I have posted about them before. I had the idea that the house represents my self, as is commonly understood, and that the higher rooms may be the higher centres - with me desiring to connect with them. This does feel like a simplistic interpretation, I have little confidence in this area. If anyone has any insights I'd love to hear them.

Time for some breathing and hopefully some memorable dreams!

I think that interpretation makes sense - also that your friends might have been or are holding you back from making contact with these higher parts of yourself. The fish could be part of yourself that needs nurturing or it will die, and the child's room could be parts of your child self who also need attention, or a place where childhood information, that needs to be accessed, is stored. In short it sounds like your subconscious is prompting you to pay attention and letting you know that there is more to your 'house' than you currently interact with - and perhaps even giving you clues about what is holding you back.

Or not - I'm of the mind set that the dreamer is the one best suited to decipher dream information - though common themes do tend to run through them which help to sort them out.

Thanks anart, that interpretation is along the lines of what I was thinking too. Perhaps the subconscious is drawing more attention to important, stored information as a result of EE among other things. It was definitely one of 'those' dreams, that are more memorable and make more of an impression upon waking. The question that most interests me now is what part of myself is the subconscious symbolising with fish, assuming that their meaning is consistent throughout the years I have been dreaming of them. Friends holding me back does not seem to fit my experience currently, perhaps I should have clarified that in the dream they accompanied me throughout the house (at least in the latest one) and I remember now showing my best friend the aquarium.
