Hi there,

I recently read these two books, and was wondering what the next book anyone would recommend? (Im interested in the "WORK" and understanding it as well as possible)

Hello melatonin,

Have you checked the thread "Collingwood's Idea of History, Speculum Mentis & Gurdjieff's Primitive Cosmology":

https://cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php/topic,44650.0.html

There is a recommended list there.

Yes the list is as follows, see beginning of the linked thread (and should be read in this order):

Idea of History - Collingwood
Speculum Mentis - Collingwood
Anatomy of Violence - Raine
Gurdjieff & Hypnosis - Tamdgidi
Psychopathy - Glenn & Raine

Then possibly a sixt one that needs to be added and the called "Inside the Criminal Mind" by Stanton Samenow. But I'm not sure about that one being a part of that list.

Yes, I think Samenow's book needs to be on the list definitely.

Since you read these books, how about reporting on them?

Ok....so well, ive attempted to understand and do "the work" for years now. (Been a member here for a long time.)
Since ive had serious fuged dissocation from severe child abuse....its been impossible to do with layers of parts to psychologically integrate (And the emotions)

So, the books themselves were easy to read. I understand now about the cycles of emotion/thoughts feeding each other, the different "i"'s fighting each other, the parts we dont want to acknowledge and the "judgement" itself detaches us from our actions and becomes a smokescreen etc. I think i have the advantage of having some of these issues amplified because of my trauma. (So i can identify with whats been spoken about possibly easier than someone with less self hate or a more integrated psyche)

I think the ideas were repeated alot in both books, but i didnt mind that, as the author described things from different perspectives. Hes used some brilliant poems to highlight points he had made too.

I think i have a starting point where i can see clearly what the "WORK" is now and what direction i need to aim for, thanks to these books.

(Sorry im not a book reviewer) :) :P

Edited to add:- Grounding ourselves in our body is the most important part of the process of trying to see our ego objectively? I was wondering specially if there was a book anyone would recommend to show the best techniques to do this?

I think the books provided above are a good start. Especially Collingwoods books deliver very unique and brilliant perspectives, which will open up the door to many other things. In combination with the other books that follow in the list, you get an even more interesting broader view. So I would recommend to stick to that list for now.
