observing double digits & other oddities; what about braces?

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since I was able to make an attribution to this forum, but right now I feel like I might have something to put in.

double digits

Ever since two weeks ago, whenever I glance at a clock (whether digital or analog) I always see double digits. They vary from 11:11, 22:33, 09:11, 09:55, but there are always double digits. The exceptions are the times I expect to see double digits 'because Ive been seeing them so much'.

I put my alarm clock yesterday, on order not to forget an appointment. My cell phone always shows me how much time is left before the alarm goes off. Yesterday, it read 01:11.

All my life I've had a liking towards the number 7 without much reason. My Japanese common name is linked to this number as well. In my cell phone number, which I received at random and not by choice, there are three 7's. The year 2007 was the start of my 'new life' in another city, starting my study Japanese & Communication.

Another occasional 'lucky number' I have noticed is 21, which I started liking at the age of 12. When I turned 21, I first took serious interest in reading up on things, starting Gurdjieff, Ouspensky and of course Laura, and had my first breakthroughs with the breathing program, my yoga practices and meditation sessions. I feel that this age has been my awakening point very strongly. Funnily enough, I've used the number in an old e-mail address of mine, which I decided not to use anymore once I had finally turned 21.

The speed radar clock (one of those things on the side of the road that indicates your current speed) blinked 22 when I noticed it during my morning walk. Last night, my friend and I had coffee and had to pay €10,10,- afterwards, being typically Dutch and splitting it up to €5,05,- each.

I don't pay much attention to numbers in general. Every now and then I might have a thought about this happening, but otherwise I don't really focus on it. Strangely enough, whenever I see a double digit nowadays, I get a little nostalgic, remembering other times I encountered a double digit.

the mystery of the black leg-warmers

I am sorting out my room at this moment, focusing on one thing at the time and doing the work properly. I gathered all my clothes on top of the couch to search through them for items to keep and others to discard. This was not done very organized; although the one-by-one process helped me to sort out a lot already, all the clothes yet to be sorted were piled up on top of each other.

Somewhere in between this pile, I had put a pair of leg-warmers. I had to leave the house for a class and I realized that I would have to search for the leg-warmers, but for some reason I had this feeling I would find them within the limited time.

The first item I pulled up, was a black leg-warmer, but not the one I had been looking for. The second item was another leg-warmer, also black, strangely enough not the one I was looking for either. I pulled out another pair, consisting of a knee-high black sock and a slightly leg warmer I had modified myself before (also black). Please take note that I was pulling things out of the pile randomly and that by no means, I have ever put all my black leg-warmers in the same place. In actuality, I was always at a loss when looking for my leg-warmers, also the reason I own so many pairs.

After pulling out so many black items resembling the item I was looking for, I couldn't help but laugh. I had imagined to at least have pulled out a shirt or scarf by now, especially because I wasn't actually looking at what I was reaching for, seeing as I was still in a hurry. All in all it was a very strange experience - my black leg-warmers which I had been searching for appeared next, both at the same time.

I'm actually glad to have found all my leg-warmers again, but I wish the items left would color-sort themselves automatically, too.

hit 'refresh'!

My internet connection is pretty slow around here because I share it with other students who all play online games, download through torrents and whatnot. More often than not, I have to hit the refresh button several times in order to get access to a page.

For pages to load slowly is not an unknown occurrence and thus when I tried to visit a particular site two days ago, it was loading so slowly, only the top half of the menu was visible and the remainder of the page was still blank. Waiting it out, I closed my eyes, massaging my face with oenothera oil. As I did this, I focussed on the sounds around me, as I tend to do a lot lately whenever I remember to. For some odd reason I can't say how much time passed- I had by then massaged every inch of my face and had analyzed all the sensations around me with my eyes closed.

A split second right before I had my eyes completely opened, a flash appeared for an instant and I was met with my computer screen. The second I looked at it, the page refreshed and the menu jumped to where it had loaded before, until it loaded the entire website.

Now if only this would mean I'd have to press 'refresh' less often...

braces
As a teenager, I went through the whole dental braces phase everyone around me seemed to go through. What's left of that time is a thin wire lined at the back of my lower teeth, some sort of brace to keep those in place. Every now and then one of these braces might loose stickiness and detach itself from the tooth; personally, all I've ever had was a prickly wire digging into my gums.

So I've noticed recently that when I'm meditating, doing breathing exercises, yoga, dance or general 'self-remembering', it seems like there is electricity running through that brace. It feels like the electrifying shivers that run through my body every now and then, particularly there after lots of yoga and meditation. The feeling coursing through that wire however, feels much more 'electric', but not to the extent that it actually hurts.

It does get a little strange sometimes. It feels like the wire is trying to pull itself straight at times, but I can honestly say there has been no notable change in position.

no time at all
A year or so ago I went to stay with a friend at her parent's place. We were home alone, together with the dog, and we promised to walk him the next day. So we put our alarm clocks to 8:30, but we both awoke the next morning before the alarm had gone off.

Something felt strange then, as if though the time didn't feel right. We checked our cell phones to see what time it was, but my battery was dead and for some reason we couldn't find the other. We assumed it had to be morning, but every clock we checked in the house seemed to display a different time. One said it was 6:00, the other said it was 01:30 and so on. We couldn't get the Teletext page to work to see the time and eventually just gave up and decided to walk the dog.

The streets were empty. Everybody seemed to be sleeping or gone. However, the sky was really cloudy, as if though there was a mist hanging in the streets and by the mood set it was quite impossible to tell the time. It wasn't dark enough to be evening or very early morning, but other than that there was no valid guess to make. The quietness is what made us believe it to be early morning, but upon our return it was as if though a chain of fast, yet unnoticed events happened; we turned on the TV, made breakfast, suddenly there were people walking by the house and my friend's parents returned whilst we were having our food.

Apparently, it was around 1 o'clock in the afternoon.

The whole experience still seems very vague. Neither her nor I were able to determine the time, especially not during that odd walk with the dog. There was nothing left of that quietness all of the sudden when we were able to validate the time - it was as if though it had never happened, like a prolonged dream.

& that's it for now, folks. I hope that it's been worth the read- I'm sorry if I got a little lengthy. I felt somewhat eager to write.
