Obsessions

The Force is Strong With This One
I'd like to talk about obsessions if that's alright with the forum.

Going by what my Oxford dictionary defines what obsession means "a thing that someone is unable to stop thinking about" and taking into consideration Gurdjieff's principle of there being many I's in a man, sometimes I find myself being totally obsessed with something, going to a certain point and then feeling very guilty afterwards. Like the I that was obsessed has gone far away and the rest of the I's that aren't obsessed have to deal with it.

Are the human emotions of guilt and pain good eating for others in the universe? There are I's in me that firmly believe in personal responsibility and I's in me that are feckless and irresponsible. I'm unsure whether I am being too harsh on myself and maybe I'm giving off a lot of food by going round in circles if this is so.

The C's made an interesting quote in The Wave book 8 that has been stuck on my mind on pages 272 & 273:

October 22, 1994

A: And knowledge forms the protection - all the protection you could ever need. [...] These people are stuck at some point in their pathway to progress and they are undergoing a hidden manifestation of what is referred to in your terms as obsession. Obsession is not knowledge, obsession is stagnation. So, when one becomes obsessed, one actually closes of absorbtion and the growth and the progress of soul development which comes with the gaining of true knowledge. For when one becomes obsessed one deteriorates the protection therefore one os open to problems, to tragedies, to all sorts of difficulties. Therefore one experiences same.

What do people think about possible constructive ways of deling with obsessions?

Hopefully my post makes sense, I'd really appreciate your thoughts.

I think regular practise of the EE breathing and meditation program will defenetly help. (http://eiriu-eolas.org/)
Also the right diet might play a much bigger role in obsessions and how you are able to control them then you might think...

Have a look arround the Diet and Health section of this forum, if you want to find out more about that :)

Many thanks for the replies. I have started doing the EE program again and the information linked to on the other threads have been some food for thought.
