A Disturbance in the Force

For the love of Pete!!! ~sigh~ I'm quite sure that a gradually defrosting 'permafrost' is contributing to this and future pipeline breaks. They allude to the fact that this BP pipeline, and all BP pipelines, have suffered from a lack of maintenance due to cutbacks in funding. This is from an industry whose profits are obscenely bloated, but, I digress. A BP official states "Something happened to the corrosion rates in that line between September 2005 and the time of the spill that we don't yet fully understand."

Uhhhm, call me crazy, but when the permafrost melts, everything supported by that permafrost drops as well - just so happens this section of pipe was in contact wtih the ground, designed so caribou could cross. The saddest and sickest part of all of this is that things can only go down from here. :/
