On Faith, Hope and Love

Treat it as such likeness to the children of gods we find on our doorsteps,
here to tug at our aprons,
chase down chickens
until the time has come
for them to set out
and upend the old order of things:

undoing tyrannies, saving maidens, slaying dragons,
maybe placing a brave soul or two in the stars
as constellations to guide others -
whose struggles find themselves splayed out
against the cosmic firmament, pressed
suffocatingly against their own small worlds -
throughout the night of time.

This came to me at work today... a little unpolished but there you have it

Hey Sunday

This is a recent poem of mine. I hope those reading enjoy it.

Hey Sunday

God asked me to be cheerful,
so I became a cheerleader.
God asked me to get off my knees
so I sprouted wings and became free.

I shake myself off, stand
and shout “I am!”
To create is to be created,
and to share is to extend a hand.

WE GOT THIS.
It is what we were born for.

Biting through the thick of things
the bounty of nature satisfies
the deepest of inner hungers
and there is no fear, shame, or subjugation
to desiccated mausoleums.

Our banners are !bright with colours,
our brass ablazing! heralds mighty mornings.

A ribbon the length of Madagascar
flutters in the breeze, spun
around and around
in our hands, entwining
I, I, and I!

I blush and am blended, blessed you take hold,
a synapse dance betwixt us!

We dig in our heels and PUUUUULL
and a mighty cord is struck,
a tonal quickening
quivers and quakes
in our arms and legs
and between gasps of laughter
I shout in the raw

I FEEL YOU
