Wow. I would think that in a "free" country with "free speech" rights, one could boycott anything for pretty much any reason. Boycotting is inaction. I am not sure how you can criminalize inaction...

I am extremely angry when I see the road that is taking Canada. And not just Canada, we know that. We are really, really in a Orwellian world and for people like us that love freedom to see this is almost scary. I have to say that this anger that I feel is also fear. I know that nobody will make me think or do something that I consider against my freedom or freedom in general, this capacity to think and use a conscience, but to live in a world like this, with this kind of sick people on the top is very scary.

It's completely insane that they are trying to make being part of the BDS or engaging in boycotting Israel a hate crime. And this happening right after the wheels have been set in motion to implement Bill C-51 which is basically the Canadian version of the Patriot Act, is no coincidence. I believe the Bill still has to go through and be voted on by the Senate, but if it passes that stage then there is nothing holding back Harper and his neo-con goons from going full steam ahead with whatever other fascist leaning laws they want to start implementing.

How exactly do they determine if someone is boycotting Israel to begin with? Will be people be on suspect lists for not buying ENOUGH Israeli crap??? God damn this psychopathic regime in charge of Canada.

I suppose they'll first go after the BDS advocates if it passes. This was interesting:

Long before signing the joint pledge with Canada, Israel passed a law making it an offence to participate in or encourage BDS.

And the Israeli high court recently upheld most of it, with one of the justices writing that boycotts can be considered "political terror."
