Hello all,
this is a request for assistance with a worm known as both pin worm and thread worm.
It turns out that I have had this for more than a year (possibly 2 or 3 ). I has been to many doctors for IBS (itchy bottom syndrome) but it wasn't recognised or even suggested. Now though it is beyond a doubt and I have found a doctor that has recommended a treatment of combantrin - 1 lot then another in two weeks.
Here's details of combantrin (it might be named something different in other parts of the world)
Anyhow, I've taken one lot (tablet form not chocolate blocks a above), and while doing some net reading on it much to my horror there are many many people writing for help for these awful things as everything they've tried has not worked.
From what I can gather, it is best not to apply topical treatments around the anus as that only keeps the worms from comming out and then laying eggs inside the intestine (they normally enjoy doing this outside the rectum) making it more the difficult to remove.
The other issue I've gathered is that, while some things - maybe some natural herbal remedies might kill the worms (but I have also read many accounts of no herbal remedies working at all), if they are not expelled the eggs the female carries re-hatch, the cycle continuing. It is apparently a cycle that is very difficut to break.
I am trying everything, including taking my first dose of combantrin 2 days ago, and following up with 2 showers a day, lemon and ginger tea, apple cider drinks - straight and with chilli, shredded coconut (apparently they don't enjoy but, we'll see going by no-success reports on the net) and licorice to ensure the expelling of stools - hopefully with lots of the critters along with.
My questions and concerns are:
What more can I do? Does anyone have anything to add to help me understand the situation more and hopefully rid my poor body of these beasties?
Any experiences out there? A search didn't bring anything, yet apparently these worms are common (20% of population in usa)
What about my uterus and urethra? I am deeply concerned about these other regions, by no means showing favour to my butt. How can I take care of these area also, rid them from here? Any ideas? Wondering if someone can break some info down for me.. and anyone else out there that's falling only a little short of sticking a firecracker up their butt. Although reportedly "harmless", the symptoms are very painful and can quite drive one to brink of insanity, I cannot concentrate on much at all, and this is the least of the symptoms.
Thank you for any responses.

COMBANTRIN®
COMBANTRIN® is effective against Threadworms as well as the rare worms, roundworms and hookworms, in a single dose. It contains Pyrantel Embonate, which works as a "neuro-muscular blocking agent" - effectively paralysing worms. Unable to move, worms are passed out in the faeces.
COMBANTRIN®-1
COMBANTRIN®-1 kills Threadworm in a single dose - one tablet or square, once only. Contains mebendazole. Mebendazole prevents the worm from absorbing glucose, causing it to lose energy and die.
How do you know if you've got Threadworms?
All human worming products will treat only adult worms present in the intestine at the time of taking the medication. They will not treat the eggs or immature worms and will not protect you or your children from contracting Threadworms if you are exposed to it again. So it's advisable to check roughly 2-4 weeks after the initial dose to ensure a second dose is not required.
For information on the lifecycle of Threadworms, see All About Threadworms.
