Pea Protein

I was wondering if pea protein is as good as brown rice protein for the ultrashake. I've been using brown rice protein powder up to now but I can only get it from the UK and the exchange rate is not as good with the euro as before. The pea protein is from Pulsin and is made from yellow split peas. I can get it from my local healthshop and it has a more neutral taste than the rice protein. The amino acid composition is the following:

Alanine 4.4 g/100g
Arginine 9.1
Aspartic Acid 12.5
Cysteine 1.1
Glutamic acid 20.3
Glycine 4.1
Histidine 2.7
Isoleucine 4.7
Leucine 8.7
Lysine 7.7
Methionine 1.2
Phenylaline 5.6
Proline 4.4
Serine 5.6
Threonine 3.9
Typthophan 1.0
Tyrosine 3.9
Valine 5.2

I've done a search on this board to see if the topic is already covered and couldn't find anything specific. I'd appreciate any advice :)

Hi Ageeva,

dugdeep made some digging about it here: http://www.cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php?topic=13241.msg155011#msg155011

It raises the issue of lectins.

Thanks Psyche :)
I was wondering about the lectins in pea protein powder. According to the link, quoted by dugdeep and Laura http://www.owenfoundation.com/Health_Science/Lectins_in_Foods.html , peas are highly agglutinating compared to brown rice. Before I joined the forum I had become familiar with the Blood Type Diet by Dadamo and would refer to the Type Values for foods from the site if I needed a pointer about by diet (I'm Type A). According to Dadamo's research peas, green and yellow, are neutral for my type and others. Considering the owenfoundation refutes categorically the Blood Type diets on this basis,

FACT: Surprisingly few lectins are blood type specific. Surprisingly fewer of those that are blood type specific are found in foods we eat. The vast majority of lectins in foods agglutinate all or no ABO types.

it can be a little confusing. However, I agree with what Laura said in this thread http://www.cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php?topic=15396.msg128823#msg128823, I have learned not to take the Blood Type Diet as the final word since joining the forum and to recognise that we are all individuals who can have very different reactions to certain food types even with the same blood type. I'll just observe my body's reaction to the pea protein powder and see how it goes
