Peaches Make Cancer Cells Commit Suicide


Three peaches a day keeps breast cancer away, in fact, it induces metastatic breast cancer cell death, says food science researcher Giuliana Noratto at Washington State University. Professor Giuliana Noratto in concert with researchers at Texas A & M said that when exposed to polyphenol chemicals in peaches, cell signals become activated to “drive them to commit suicide”.

If you want to do your own research, Noratto and her team’s findings were published in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry and The Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among woman living in the United States and cancer-related deaths. Naturally, Noratto and her team’s findings offer a practical and simple addition to every woman’s daily routine intended to prevent cancer. The equivalent of the polyphenol peach extract used in the study was equivalent to a 132 pound woman eating approximately three peaches per day.

The benefits of peaches as a chemopreventive food therapy


To test the effects of peaches on breast cancer cells, mice were injected first with breast cancer cells, then fed varying doses of the peach extract. After the mice fed high levels of the polyphenol chemicals extracted from peaches, researchers observed slow-growing tumors in these mice.

Researchers, already understanding that these compounds exert protective antioxidant activity against breast cancer cells, were not particularly surprised with these initial findings however. What Noratto and her team found most surprising was observing cancer cells dying off; slowing the metastatic process (the spread of cancerous cells throughout the body). Noratto said of the surprising findings, “we didn’t even think about metastasis at that time.”

After 12 days, researchers observed that rats fed the high levels of peach polyphenols experienced less formation of blood vessel activity that is responsible for the spread of cancerous cells. Less enzymatic activity involved in both the invasion and spread of cancer was also observed.

While many conventional oncology teams still rely exclusively on harsh synthetic chemotherapy pharmaceuticals, Novatto and her team stand apart, setting the bar high for the future of evidence-based food therapies that prevent and treat cancer effectively.

Compounds in peaches prevent breast cancer without harming healthy cellular activity

Peaches, considered to belong to the “stone fruit” family because of their large stone-like seed, contain potent polyphenol activity known as chlorogenic and neochlorogenic compounds. While these compounds are present in other stone fruits, they are of particularly high concentration in peaches.

Novatto’s studies have confirmed that these two polyphenols are the compounds responsible for killing cancerous breast cells.
Unlike giving body taxing, high-dose chemotherapy to patients that is not cellularly-selective (kills healthy cells along with atypical cells), researchers are positive about offering high-dose peach extract without the associated side effects.

This is really good anticancer news for everyone. Beyond breast cancer, researchers found in further animal studies that the polyphenols prevented other cancers from continuing to grow, making them a practical anti-cancer food therapy. Never underestimate the healing power of natural foods.

Peaches also contain a lot of sugar (fructose) which has pro-cancer properties. It would be interesting to know if whole peaches (polyphenols + fructose) increase of reduce the development of cancerous cells.
 
The answer to starving cancer cells by blocking their energy production (despite high levels of consumed sugar) could be in the use of pawpaw extracts. Acetogenins in paw paw cut the energy supply to cancer cells!

It's possible the sugar/fructose plays a positive role in the effectiveness of the polyphenols. Many have heard the case of Vernon Johnston who cured his own Stage 4 prostate cancer w/ baking soda & molasses. One should probably look into Noratto's published findings for more definitive answers.

Not to mention that peaches are one of the most pesticide-laden fruits you can buy.

During the introductory part of the interview, Dr. Coldwell discusses his immediate family members who were diagnosed w/ cancer & those who succumbed to cancer. He is very familiar w/ cancer: "Throughout Dr. Coldwell’s successful career, he has to date, cured over 35,000 cancer patients (studies have concluded that he has a 92.3% cancer cure rate)". At 8:25, he talks about sugar in the diet of his cancer patients - refined sugar is a no, but natural sugar is OK & that all his cancer patients eat fruit. He goes on to stress the importance of ORGANIC and nonGMO foods.

I am aware that an overabundance of fructose consumption has been linked to pancreatic cancer. Like most things, moderation is the key. If one were to adopt the 3 peaches a day routine (organic peaches BTW), than it would seem imperative not to consume any additional fructose or other sugars. And if I did have a breast cancer diagnosis, I wouldn't rely on peaches for a cure. There are plenty of options to consider that don't include chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery. However, peach polyphenols may be another component in natural treatment for cancer in the vein of 'let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food'.

Short answer, no, it wouldn't be wise to eliminate fruit entirely. Fruit is definitely a source of fructose, and one that can harm your health if you eat it in vast quantities, but eating small amounts of whole fruits is fine if you are healthy.

In vegetables and fruits, the fructose is mixed in with fiber, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and beneficial phytonutrients, all of which help moderate the negative metabolic effects. However, if you suffer with any fructose-related health issues, such as insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, heart disease, obesity or cancer, you would be wise to limit your total fructose consumption to 15 grams of fructose per day. The table indicates that 1 medium peach has 5.9 grams of fructose, so the daily consumption of 3 small peaches would fall within the 15 grams per day recommended limit if one has cancer.

My mother tried to order apricot pits at a local health food store. I imagine she heard a story on Coast to Coast on the subject of a cancer remedy using these. She told me that the store owner told her that they have to keep a registry of people ordering/requesting these. She is a bit hard of hearing, so I don't assume she understood correctly.
I don't think it would be so hard to grow apricots if one wanted a lot of these.
Anyone heard anything about these being a controlled substance?
Pretty easy to buy apricots at the store.
OTOH, it easy to grow poppies, too.

No. How could they ever be? There is one apricot seed in each apricot fruit, and you can buy fresh apricots in almost any supermarket in any neighborhood in the world. Internet law is tricky and not the same as U.S. commercial law. In one case, Ken Kholas took the FDA to court and won his B17 back. That court case proved it wasn't wrong for him to have or to sell it. Bottom line TO YOU is that you can purchase, use, and have B17 or raw apricot seeds.

Just finished watching Episode 4 of The Truth About Cancer: The Global Quest. Episode 4 is entitled: Excitotoxins that Fuel Cancer, Nature's Pharmacy and Healing Cancer with Sound & Light. At 48:05, Dr. Patrick Quillin, PH.D.,R.D.,C.N.S., who was doing a tour/presentation of his garden of 60 fruit trees, begins talking about his peaches and he brings up the fact that there was a Harvard study (dated Aug 21, 2014) that found eating 2 servings of peaches a week reduced the risk of certain types of breast cancer by 40% (the study was of postmenopausal women).

There's way too much information contained in each episode to even begin to summarize and I'm finding a wealth of new information that I previously had no knowledge of.
