I'm in the process of watching this explanation of an extremely slick and complicated phone scam. Glitterbombs (which I had never heard of before) are involved in thwarting the scammers. Older people tend to be the victims of these scams so it might be useful to learn the process to protect parents/relatives as well as others. Vid is 23:14 - you will be amazed how this plays out.

Can you type a little bit about this, so that we don't need to watch a 23 minute video?
The perps of this scam originate from call centers in India. Robocalls eventually find a "mark" who can be tricked by use of computer skills/deceit into sending packages filled with thousands of dollars in cash. Hired "mules" intercept the packages at the delivery point as they are usually being delivered to airbnbs or other illegitimate addresses. Mules report to a supervisor who uses the cash in the packages to give them their cut (apprx $100 per package), takes his cut and arranges for the money to be sent to India. The guy behind exposing the scam has used a friend to pose as a "granny" online and consequently changing out the cash packages for his personal invention, the glitterbomb. The perps are total, heartless scumbags preying on the elderly who are simply too trusting and get completely taken in. Progress is being made in shutting down these scammers, both in India and the mules and supervisors in the U.S. But, like noxious weeds, they're hard to eradicate.
