PRIME TARGET

Wandering Star

The Living Force
The Apple TV+ series "Prime Target" presents a plot that, although fictional, is intertwined with real mathematical concepts with deep historical roots. The protagonist, Edward Brooks, is a brilliant Cambridge mathematics student who is on the verge of making a significant breakthrough in the understanding of prime numbers. This potential discovery places him at the center of an international conspiracy, as his work could unravel patterns that would compromise global digital security.

The connection between "Prime Target" and the historical figure of Al-Khwarishimi is notable. Al-Khwarishimi, a 9th-century Persian mathematician, is recognized for his fundamental contributions to the development of algebra and the introduction of the Hindu-Arabic number system, including the concept of zero. His work laid the foundation for many areas of modern mathematics, including number theory, which studies the properties and relationships of numbers, such as prime numbers.

.................................

A reminder of what can happen in real life to those who "seek" certain things.

Likewise, perhaps the mathematicians in this forum will find some inspiration or clue in what is presented in the series.

In any case, it is entertaining.

My all time favourite is an old Agatha Christie murder mystery with the only actor, that could be the epitome of the Miss Marple personality Joan Hickson at the age of 80 has been reported bless her...Nemeses. A story of love and goodness. Love turned into the opposite of love...possession. Spite. jealousy and hate. Yes I know it's old but it's serves as a lesson into the trap of the word love in it's many contradictions

Apologies, I intended to post this in what your are watching now, not an analysis of a poplar culture movie.

Watched it yesterday/night... well made. I've seen this plotline before, but the script was written well given the choice of characters. The only thing not really mentioned is that the real PTB already have all those equations etc. They did end it well enough by hinting at public dispersal, as it would happen soon enough anyway.
