Bring your piano to work day for politician

June 1, 2017

Some people bring their children to work, or a dog. New right-wing politician Thierry Baudet has taken his piano.

Baudet, a founder of the Forum voor Democratie who was voted into parliament in March, has just had his grand piano delivered to The Hague. This was, reports NOS broadcaster [in Dutch; with video], one of his less conventional manifesto pledges.

The politician has made no secret of his love of hammer-and-strings, being photographed lying on his piano during the campaign. When his instrument arrived at the parliamentary buildings on Thursday, via a special transport, he left a debate.

His isn’t the only redecoration project underway. After the elections in March, when the Labor PvdA suffered record losses, plenty of offices have been vacated and refilled. Although MPs can have personal possessions around them, Baudet is thought to be the first to bring his piano to work.

The FvD party tweeted that, to clear up any confusion, Baudet had himself paid the removal costs of €786.
