Probable problem woth SOTT and youTube?

The Living Force
I seem to have a problem with SOTT embedded youTube
session via Firefox on Fedora 13, only if I attempt to expand
the session into a fullscreen mode. Even though the youTube
session does run in fullscreen mode and play to completion,
the problem is that the controls are inacessable. For example,
I am unable to escape out of fullscreen mode, I cannot change
the caption (CC) mode setting, and so on. I cannot ascertain if
the problem is Firefox on Fedora, or if the problem is the SOTT
page handling the of the embedded youTube session.

I checked out the same youTube session by directly going to
the youTube site, and this problem does not occur at all.

Does anybody have this problem using FF & a Linux distro (Fedora,
Ubuntu, etc)?

Thanks in advance!
Dan

Are you having problems with all youtube videos embedded at Sott or is there one in particular? If it's one, can you link to the one you're having this issue with?

I tried the one located here and didn't have a problem. I'm using firefox but am on a mac so if anything, the problem may be with fedora/linux operating system.

Added: Not sure if this applies to you (do you use gnash?) but I did a search for problems with fedora 13 and youtube and came up with this:

Gnash fails to play youtube videos

link to this item - Bugzilla: #606170

The GNU flash movie player (image:Package-x-generic-16.pnggnash) fails to play youtube videos (with necessary codecs installed) after the first youtube visit with the message : "An error occured, please try again later." inside the player. The problem appears to be due to mishandling of browser cookies. To workaround the issue, delete youtube cookies, then block cookies from youtube.

The procedure to remove cookies and block youtube.com cookies using image:Package-x-generic-16.pngfirefox is listed below.

1. Open firefox preferences by selecting Edit → Preferences from the firefox menu
2. In the preferences window, choose the Privacy tab
3. Under History, set the value of Firefox will to Use custom settings for history
4. Next, remove any youtube cookies by selecting Show Cookies. Enter youtube in the search box, and click "Remove Cookies". Close the Cookies dialog when finished.
5. Next, add an exception by selecting Exceptions and add http://www.youtube.com then select Block
6. Finally, close the firefox preferences dialog.

Hope that helps. :)

Thanks for the suggestion but do not use gnash
nor swfdec. I use Adobe flash.

The problem appears only when one attempts to
use the fullscreen mode (on SOTT).

I tried the provided link and it has the same problem.
It happens with all embedded youTubes on SOTT,
unless directly run on the youTube site/page.

Ok, I checked it out on Ubuntu, as it is a problem
with FF & Fedora 13

Thanks.
Thanks for the clarification Dant and glad you were able to figure out where the issue was coming from. :)

This is actually problem with new flash player , at least thats what i figured out recently. There are different problems under different browsers , but all of them happen after flash player upgrade.

Hmm... so it depends on the adobe flash version used.
I tested Ubuntu 10 (older) and Fedora 12 (older) and they work.

Thanks for the info!
