Prosthesis that gives a sense of amputated legs

The Living Force
Wolfgang Rangger, 54-year-old teacher, now feels the ground as you walk by him with his own foot. No more, he says, not phantom pain resulting from hypersensitivity that gradually develops in the brain of persons with amputated limb, because physicians are nerve endings that are used to run the amputated leg to divert the surface of the thigh, where they came into contact with the prosthesis.

This doesn't seem like a far-fetched idea. I think the state of science and medicine tends to delay this kind of progress for decades.

Quote from the article:
"The world's first artificial leg capable of simulating the feelings of a real limb and fighting phantom pain ..."
The Austrian team of scientists presented the FIRST( ?) orthopedic prosthesis, which can SIMULATE THE FEELING (?) of an amputated leg, the FIRST prosthesis IN THE WORLD(? )that could help patients who feel phantom pain for years AFTER amputation.
I think I read this OK, the first prosthesis simulates ...

What I meant was that medical science seems to be slow sometimes.
Unfortunately, they can be faster, because the country most of the money spent on the Arms :(
