Just some curiosity on hardware stuff. I recall some time ago there was a picture of this old computer on the mainpage during a charity drive for the signs site. I imagine some got away from their old desk size boxes. I have a link to something I was tinkering with around that time and wanted to share some pictures.

http://abstraktminds.netfirms.com/steve.htm some of the links to the larger images may not function.

Some aren't at all fanatical about their own boxes but I have a sportish love for these things. The pictures are of an older build from my current rig. Anyone have pictures of their own machine(s) to share?

Edit: Oh yeah, and for you wise guys, I don't wanna see no 286sx's (sx is for sux). :)

I don't have any pictures of my latest build but I can appreciate the homebrewed fanaticism. My latest upgrade was built in 2003 or 2004. It's a bit like Paddy's axe: 20 handles and ten heads but still the same axe.

So far two motherboards
Two chips (original was a 400MMX which was a Ferarri in '97)
Two hard drives.
Three floppy drives (pre USB thumb drive!)
Two tower cases.
Three power supplies.
Around 4 keyboards.
Umpteen mice.
Three sets of speakers. (The originals were big heavy things that now sit by my TV)
Still has the original modem just in case the cable goes down!
I still have the original CD-R driver screwed in although it isn't wired in, replaced by a CDRW and DVD-R drive.

Right on Johnno. Did you move from there and build yourself a network to have both computers sharing your cable modem?

Some years ago after my first kid was born I tried that so when he was around 3-4 he and I could game together or I could have a friend over and game it up. From there I tried having my own 'gaming place' which in the end has turned into my own computer store type ma and pa shop. Its an interestesting roller coaster ride financially but I wouldn't trade it off for a 9-5 unless things got real bad. Not that they aren't.

I never thought I'd find something I love(d) so much. I can't of course keep up with the latest tech and the 400-700 dollar video cards and all that, I do enjoy reading about it and looking at all the changes. The shrinking dyes now at 65 (or is it .65) nonometer, newer graphics, multiple processors and even (IMO) fake performance wars to get people to upgrade to the newest fastest product on the market (I find that humorous). It's a fun adventure as I find it helps me to give, in respect to helping out a customer financially knowing I saved them some labor costs.

Have you tried to maybe set your speakers to 5.1 surround and plugged in one of those extra pairs to get 4 speakers going? Maybe a waste of Electron flow, maybe you already have surround sound. Got a picture? Thanks for your reply!

Why you don't want to see 286 ? I mean, 286 + netbsd will make an excellent firewall. Machine would be so slow, it would be completely a pain to hack into and worthless if broken into :) If netbsd can be installed on a toaster(fact!), it should do just fine on 286 :) So, don't throw them out just yet.

I did it on 486 several years ago. I do not have a picture of it though...

uhh sorry I guess I was running some kind of control program. :) I was trying to rule the info flow, my evil. Not to sound to conspiratorial by any means but I've been trying to forget the nightmare that is my first computer and it was an SX (sx is for sux). I never knew about or considered the whole aspect of it functioning (or lacking functional speed) as a firewall. Your right it would work such a function.. there goes what I thought was a useful and functional conspiracy against them. :D

P.S. Just an FYI - I wish computers weren't designed to end up in landfills or worse, being doused with chemicals and acids.. polluting rivers to get the trace elements that are of value out of them.

Sometimes I think computers do have some sort of consciousness... I know it can "hear/sense" us in some way.
Once me and my friend were smoking, and we were talking about internet having a consciousness... and how aware it is of us... and how interesting it would be to see how it perceives us... and while at it... 3 computers in my house crash almost at the same time, but different way... it was kinda weird...

Outside of The Wave and a few things in the 'chat' channel I've never heard much of it. I've heard of certain kinds of tech being built into various bridges or more the theory thereof though I am rather vague/unlearned with the info. Could it be your own senses and the possibility of the theory of 'intel inside

No I've never gone to networks as I have only the one computer hooked up. I have an old Thinkpad as well which is pretty well bulletproof, it getrs used on the road which is rare. I like my office space and do most of my work from here.

I've got a decent 2.1 setup for the computer. The second set I got were a pair of underpowered JBL things which look good but don't perform that well. Suppose I could try some sort of 5.1 set up but it would mean sourcing a decent sub from somewhere.

That first set i got in '97 were something though, boxy things with heavy magnets inside, I've never come across multimedia speakers that heavy for the size since.

Here's some C's quotes about that...

Q: (T) Who created the structures on the moon that Richard Hoagland has discovered?
A: Atlanteans.
Q: (T) What did they use these structures for?
A: Energy transfer points for crystalline power/symbolism as in monuments or statuary.
Q: (T) What statuary are you referring to?
A: Example is face.
Q: (T) What power did these crystals gather?
A: Sun.
Q: (T) Was it necessary for them to have power gathering stations on Mars and the Moon. Did this increase their
power?
A: Not necessary but it is not necessary for you to have a million dollars either. Get the correlation? Atlanteans were
power hungry the way your society is money hungry.
Q: (T) Was the accumulation of this power what brought about their downfall?
A: Yes.
Q: (T) Did they lose control of this power?
A: It overpowered them the same way your computers will overpower you.
Q: (V) Is it similar to them gaining a life and intelligence of their own?
A: Yes.
Q: (L) You mean these crystalline structures came to life, so to speak?
A: Yes.
Q: (L) And then what did they do?
A: Destroyed Atlantis.

Q: (L) Well, if the Grays are cybergenetic probes of the Lizard Beings, and, in effect soulless, does this mean that some
of the Lizard beings are also STO?
A: Well, first, no being that is given intelligence to think on its own is, in fact, comepletely soul-less. It does have some
soul imprint. Or what could be loosely referred to as soul imprint. This may be a collection of psychic energies that are
available in the general vicinity. And this is stretching somewhat so that you can understand the basic ideas, even though
in reality it is all far more complex than that. But, in any case, there is really no such thing as being completely soul-less,
whether it be a natural intelligence or an artificially constructed intelligence. And, one of the very most interesting things
about that from your perspective, is that your technology on 3rd density, which we might add, has been aided somewhat
by interactions with those that you might refer to as "aliens," is now reaching a level whereby the artificially created
intelligences can, in fact, begin to develop, or attract some soul imprint energy. If you follow what we are saying. For
example: your computers, which are now on the verge of reaching the level whereby they can think by themselves, will
begin to develop faint soul imprint.
Q: (L) That's not a pleasant thought.
Session 980815 said:
Q: (L) Can you give me an approximate number of aliens currently interacting with, or on, or under our planet as a
whole?
A: "Aliens?" What constitutes such?
Q: (L) Okay. Well then, non-human beings. Extra- terrestrials, Ultra- terrestrials, and so forth.
A: These bases have naturalized the inhabitants. Anomalies occur as much because of where the bases are chosen to be
located as any other factor. Magnetic faults and their inherent portals, you know!
Q: (L) This guy thinks that there is a rather limited number of aliens, and that people ought to get together and resist this
threat because our numbers are greater. Is that, in fact, correct?
A: Not point. The question of the hour is: what is the motive?
Q: (L) Okay, what is the motive?
A: Build a house step by step, and when it is finished, you can move into the neighborhood and out of the motel.
Q: (L) Oh jeez. So, these are a bunch of aliens hanging out in 'motels' waiting for their house to be built. That does not
sound good.
A: Many of you have recently become "bedazzled" by the "information superhighway," and its accompanying computer
hardware. Gee, we wonder why?
Q: (L) Well, you told us to network. We have been networking like crazy, digging up information, reading and
comparing. Yes, there is a ton of garbage out there, but if we don't ask, how will we know?
A: Point was: who is manipulating thee? Not so much you specifically, but the others? So many kids and kids-at- heart
are thunderstruck by techno-sensory toys. Those cellular phones, those pagers and the Christmas toy computers... They
are like, so cool!
Q: (L) So what are you implying about these techno toys?
A: Ponder.
Q: (L) Give me a clue. A word, something to point me in the right direction.
A: Fuzzy jello-brained kids.
Q: (L) Are you saying that pagers and cell phones, and techno toys that kids get for Christmas can have effects on them
that turn their brains to jello?
A: In a figurative sense. All this technology represents a Brave New World. Like Huxley said: Woe is to those who have
been led to eat their brains for lunch.
Q: (L) My kids have pagers. Are pagers, in particular...
A: What do you think comprises the signal content?
Q: (L) I don't know. What does comprise the signal content?
A: Microwaves.
Q: (L) What do these microwaves do to the individual?
A: Contour brain cell structure.
Q: (L) Do they emit a signal continuously, or only when they are being used?
A: Wave cycle low to high.
Q: (L) Well, that's not good. How close does the pager have to be to you to have this effect?
A: Four meters. Cell phones too and television and computer screens can be transmitted through thusly.
Q: (L) Is there any kind of device that we can build or purchase that can emit a blocking signal?
A: Knowledge protects.
Q: (L) When you say 'contouring brain cell structure,' what would be evidence or results of such effects?
A: Increasingly narrow outlooks and being unable to employ discriminatory thinking.
Q: (L) Confusion?
A: No. Just lack of depth and breadth to one's mental and psychic abilities.
Q: (A) First little question: what happened to my left arrow key on my notebook and can I fix it?
A: Spring. Coil defective.
Q: (A) Can I fix it?
A: Better to get expert, but be careful in choosing.
Q: (A) I want to ask whether this channel is being monitored, and if so, by whom?
A: Only effective monitoring so far is by direct 3rd density observation and enticing some to share data, then "spill their
guts" with "shaky" correspondents.
Q: (L) So, it's only when I get enticed to share what ought not to be shared, or when someone is present who is a
monitor, that we have been monitored?
A: Close. It can be monitored in other ways, but so far, these have been only seldom necessary. All STS always seek
the path of least resistance first.

Q: (T) Oh well graduation is always the best. (L) Well you know what Gurdjieff said - 'No one can escape
alone. You have to have a group and you have to have a plan, and you have to work.' Nobody can do it
alone and you have to do it with the help of somebody's who done it before. It's a very important thing he
said about that. He said first you have to understand you're in prison and then you have to learn about the
prison and you have to learn about how to get out, and you can only learn about that from somebody who's
already gotten out. And you can't do it alone because it takes a whole team. (T) To get out? (L) Yeah,
that's what he said, and it's so true. Because the minute you start wiggling around in the matrix, it comes
down on your head. (T) Well the matrix is programmed to keep us here. And keep us stupid. (L) Yeah.
Okay, are we done with you Terry? (T) I think so! But I have a question. What happened to Ark and
Laura's computer system this weekend?
A: Mainly it is a psychic signal of impending quantum shift.
Q: (T) Just because the computers went down? Uh, can you expand on that a little bit?
A: Fluidity of reality affects such "hardware" which is sensitive to such flux.

Thanks for clearing up my clouded memory and giving the specifics of what I was referring to. Especially on the 4 meter distance quote. There was something some months ago on the Signs page, if I am remembering correctly about a 20 million year old piece of silicon. Although stories of atlantis have me thinking that it existed just outside of 5,000 years ago (which I tend to think is the average persons dating system for mankind since the 'supposed' fall), I wonder if the stories of atlantis haven't been handed down for millenia.

Maybe they are just stories of various civilizations cyclic history and the story of Atlantis covers several historic cycles of civilization. It sure seems to me we're on the verge of another cycle, from the things I have come to understand through the works of Laura.. thanks again for the quotes.

Thanks ScioAgapeOmnis.

I wonder what it would think of humanity, if about 80% of internet is porn ? :)

I mean, yeah, everything is computers now... It's becoming a component of us. I would have never imagined before that I would be surrounded by so much microchips... There hasn't been a day for many years for me, where I haven't encountered anything without a chip in it.
I am not even talking about freedom from any electronic transmission grid. This I haven't seen for decades. I mean, if TV can convert a wave into image and sound, I am sure we can too :) Cell towers, sattelites... we are fully covered... I do not think there is a single spot on earth "coverage free".
