Late last year, Putin gave a few puppies, ten-year old girl Veronica Bezuglovoj, Wave Gantry, Tell Ševelovoj and Wave Pahomovoj.
Putin is a great lover of animals, and animals love him.
Also, he has a big heart for these and similar situations :)
