I don't think you can tell a lot from one episode. It might be good if he has some down time or snack time after school before the lesson. Had to be painful for everyone.
Between the ages of 8 and 14, my son was emotionally friable/labile. I've heard other parents of boys say the same. Don't know how common this is. There were some family stresses then. But a no stress family might be a rarity.
