Question for longtime forum members

EmeraldHope

The Living Force
I have a bizarre question. I have been wondering for a while and I cannot figure out the answer, and I've tried through the post history. I feel sort of silly asking this, but it really is bugging me. So here it goes- why was user Ruth banned?

It seems Ruth contributed for quite some time and seemed coherent and intelligent in posts. I am wondering more from a psychological standpoint than anything else. What could someone who was here that long and seemed that interested do to get banned ?
What was lurking underneath, so to speak?

I hope I am not out of line in asking this.

Hi EmeraldHope,

There is usually a lengthy discussion on the moderators board before someone gets banned. Spammers and whacko's are pretty straight forward cases but banning a regular member takes a bit more deliberation in the "backroom". Usually it's because the said member breaks forum rules or displays manipulative behaviour, be it conscious or otherwise.

Rest assured that a regular member gets banned only after discussions and input from moderators and administrators/owners of this forum. It's pointless to get into the specifics of each case unless it's useful as a learning tool and in such a case, it's usually published on the main forum. Hope that answers your question. :)

EmeraldHope, take a read through the Organic Portals thread, to see an example of the kind of posting behavior that eventually lead to Ruth being banned.

I get it now. I just did not go back far enough or happen upon these types of instances. It's been quite a while since I read this thread in particular.

Thanks AI.

Just want to underscore this. There is a lot and I do mean a lot of consideration taken before those decisions are made. This is something that is taken very seriously. What you all see out here is the final result which can make it appear random.

I'm curious about why this question came to mind for you, EmeraldHope. Why did you think her access was restricted?

I really wasn't sure Anart. I knew it had to be something that was coming through in her writing patterns or behaviour, but I could not figure out what it was. It was just curiosity. I kept finding myself in threads where Ruth was posting, and her writing did not reflect anything out of the ordinary to me, and I kept seeing BANNED under her name. So, I got curious. I went back and read the last several posts and nothing stood out terribly- they were about reikki or something if I remember correctly. Then I went back a little further, but still didn't see. It was just something I noticed several times. So, I thought I would just ask instead of using a lot of time to go and try to read all of the posts as I did not consider that a wise use of time, really.

Ah, I see. Had you not read that OP thread previously, in your time reading the forum? It's pretty demonstrative of the dynamic at play, and hard to miss, I think.

Anart, as I said in my reply to AI- it had been quite sometime since I read that particular thread. Over a year ago at this point I think. ( It is possible I may have referenced it for other reasons earlier, but not for this particular reason- more from content from Laura. )I can also say that at the time I read it, I did not have this particular question in mind. It is something that I just have recently started noticing over and over. There is no way my I would have remembered Ruth posted in that thread. I was not looking at the dynamics in thatr light per se when I was reading that material. This is a recent noticing and curiosity, and I coulod not readily find an example, such as the one AI pointed out.

Addendum: I get the feeling, from the way you worded the question, that you think that if I had ever read that thread I should remember Ruth's particular posts.

Not necessarily, your question just indicated an interest in Ruth and that thread is just chock full of information about Ruth! I was thinking that if you had read it, that her input there would be hard to forget. That's all. It's a really long thread - were you able to quickly pick up on the dynamic present after AI linked to it? You posted your reply to him so quickly, that I was a little confused about that.

Either way, it is an interesting case.

Yes, I was able to quickly pick up the dynamic. I read very quickly. ( It only took me a day and a half to read Political Ponerology, for example ) I can easily read a book a day. When I pulled up the thread I mainly just went through till I found Ruth's postings- I did not read the whole thread. Within the first couple that I found I could see it clearly. I then typed my reply to AI.

I was wondering the same thing. I too looked at her posts, and what I thought was that she did not actually contribute that much, if anything. She seemed to always just be ranting her opinion on something, and the way I read her words gave me the impression she was not open at all to any real discussion or considering things. But I only read a handful of her posts on the forum, and when she occasionally comments on SoTT. I am pretty sure I read part of that OP thread, but I am going to go check it out now.

What I got out of the organic portal thread, was that she seemed very combative. She was very sensitive, and quite illogical at times. One post gave me the impression that she identified in someway with ops, and the subject made her uncomfortable. She also seemed to twist in her mind things that people said to her, take them out of context, and become combative about not being understood. She did not seem to take constructive criticiism well. I felt the people responding being drained in their responses to her. I am guessing now, if that particular behaviour was ongoing, that the decision was reached that she was in the wrong, bar so to speak , and that both parties would be better suited to part ways.

That was the feel I got from her posts in that thread anyway.

The thing is, almost everyone becomes 'combative' to some extent when their false personality / sacred cows come under scrutiny, and they feel 'misunderstood'. This inevitably happens when we 'identify' with a problem concept, and can lead to all kinds of illogical behaviour. However, if someone is sincerely seeking and has a potential capacity to Work, there will be genuine attempts to overcome this blockage, and indications over time of more conscious behaviour. The problem comes when this turns into an immovable barrier. If there is the persistent lack of capacity for introspection, for recognising personal blindspots, then this inevitably means an inability to move beyond them.
