What is the best, by that I mean real natural and healthy olive oil brand?

Keep in mind, I live in the midwest US and I am on a budget, I am not rich.

Thank you in advance for everyones input.

:)

My husband brought home Rachel Ray's and it doesn't look cloudy and it's not in a dark bottle like most folks say it should be.

I think brands can vary a lot by geographic location. I'm in PA. I always make sure it's organic EVOO, FWIW.

Bearing in mind that I don't live in the US and that I don't really know about US brands, I think that the reason why some folks say it should look cloudy is because when it is unfiltered, it's cloudy.

One the one hand, unfiltered olive oil keeps all the goodies, but on the other hand, some nutritionists say that unfiltered olive oil oxidises much quicker posing a danger to one's health. They usually advise to refrigerate unfiltered olive oil because of that, but I personally don't do it because it becomes solidified.
Sorry if I made you more confused The Water Bearer, but these are things to keep in mind.

I use cold pressed organic and unfiltered olive oil which is cloudy, it comes in a glass bottle, and each bottle tends to have a slightly different colour. I also love its taste when compared to a refined oil.

Look for olive oil that is cold pressed, meaning raw, some will say first press, that's even better, but more expensive. When it comes to choose between expensive food or expensive medicine I choose food, it is a better medicine than even the best elixir.

We try to shop as much as we can at a local organic co-op. There we look for good quality that's within our budget. I use organic grape-seed for baking, and olive for general purpose cooking. I do use olive oil if the baking is supposed to be savory.

I don't go by brands, but by word of mouth on quality. Ask around at the local organic store/co-op for what's good. Usually we get as much as we can in dark glass bottles. If its unfiltered it goes in the refrigerator, and we use that first. I take it out and let it liquefy before using.
