I am quite sure there was a pretty old thread where we discussed the nature of "opinion." I did some searching, but I can not find it. Does anybody recall which thread that was?

Also, there are these threads which do some discussing of the nature of knowledge, the place of speculation in The Work, and some of the internal barriers that impede our ability to perceive truth and communicate what we perceive:

There is also a lot of good stuff in the new sub-forum on cognitive sciences about all the things we think we know that we don't know and all the things that we don't know that we don't know we don't know :P

Indeed, there is very little point in pursuing esoteric or philosophical discussions unless and until you have at least some mastery of how your machine works and how you lie to yourself all day, every day.
