Rachel Corrie (April 10, 1979 – March 16, 2003)

Thank you for posting that Rob. It brings home for those who are new to what is happening in Israel, that the Israeli attitude towards the Palestinians and for other people supportive of them hasn't changed. The killing 20 years ago didn't lead to sanctions by the US of Israel but only continued support.
There has been a few articles on SOTT regarding Rachel Corrie like this article:

The Israeli attitude to civilians has not changed since then:
In a small courtroom in Haifa's District Court, a colonel in the Israeli engineering corps who wrote a manual for the bulldozer units that razed the Rafah Refugee Camp in 2003 offered his opinion on the killing of the American activist Rachel Corrie.

"There are no civilians during wartime," Yossi declared under oath.
So it is not of new date that the Israeli military sees civilians as legitimate targets, contrary to international law.

Another article says that a court found it to just be an accident and case closed:
Whitewashing Murder: Rachel Corrie's death was an accident, Israeli judge rules -- Sott.net
The day after Corrie's death, Israel's then prime minister, Ariel Sharon, promised US president George W Bush that Israel would conduct a "thorough, credible and transparent" investigation into the incident.

Within a month the IDF had completed an internal inquiry led by its chief of staff. It concluded that its forces were not to blame, that the driver of the bulldozer had not seen the activist, that no charges would be brought and the case was closed.
We can all imagine how the West would have reacted if Russia,China or Iran had done such a thing.

Was recently reminded of Rachel Corrie whie looking at some youtube videos

Thank you. I was thinking about her these days but I did not remember her name. Completely forgotten from everywhere this type of murder to people that are gentle and good, that are in a certain way martyrs or saints. Naive also, they don't know that the are in front of the Devil and the Devil is stronger and savage. Dear people that are unprotected. Too bad, really and very sad.

This is a song written about Rachel Corrie, based on the letters she wrote home to her parents. It is so beautiful and sad, it touches my heart every time I hear it. Jim Page (the folk singer) wrote and recorded it— I’d Rather Be Dancing (Rachel’s Song)
