Random internet stuff

OK I just searched SOTT.
In the very swift tansfer I got a whole page of boob shots flashed at me. Seriously a whole page.
I am a woman, so these didn't interest me in the least.
What gives?
I have tried, but I cannot remember what my search parameters were
And now I am seriously wandering without a clue.
Memory loss?
Am I going insane?

Hi Silveryblue, I may think that it has nothing to do with sott, since sott only shows text search results and definitely no boobs too. Could you check for some malware that caused it maybe and it's the first time something like this happened?

Anyway, I hope this helps a bit.

And moreover are you sure that using the search function of the forum, you did your search on the entire forum and not on google?

Most probably some malware as Gawan said. You should scan your computer for these from time to time, especially if other people use it as well.

The best thing to do imo is to get rid of all possible malware first and make sure you have adequate protection against them. If anybody else uses the computer, I suggest you inform them as well to stay away from doubtful websites and to not download files except from trusted sources.

Anyway, I'm not an expert but had to deal a few times with viruses/spyware etc.

Hummm, I'm not sure entering a keyword on Google would do that unless perhaps you deliberately entered ''boobs'' (or a similar term) in the image section. If she was intending to do a search on SOTT, I doubt it's what she was looking for.

Silveryblue, was it a pop-up that you saw or were you simply redirected there? In the case of a pop-up, it could simply be a malware and have nothing to do with the search itself (it kinds of pops-up randomly).

Malwarebytes, and Avast work very well together, and can be found for free. The free version of Advanced system care is also pretty good at cleaning up yer computer once you have cleaned it out.

One of the ways in which malware or "fake" sites can pop up is if you misspell or misplace one letter, it seems as if these "search functions" and URL entries "look" for such anomalies and then exploit them, normally when the user is expecting one thing and when the "freak" page appears the user is shocked and then starts clicking around to close the page which deploys the malware onto your computer. The best thing to always do is to ~ take a deep breath and then hit the browsers "back" button. I worked in IT for many years and have found that panicking and clicking leads to quite the disaster since the payload is deployed everywhere very rapidly.

Another good add on product is "Spy No More" - since I have installed this along with my regular anti-virus software not only are the pop-up and under windows nil, I have had no issues with any of these types of malware attacks. Sadly, I have had issues in the past running only anti-virus software from many software companies and the program is not comprehensive. Spy No More has a very small annual fee - I purchased the 3 license package for my three internet usable computers.

I hope this helps!
