The Living Force
I watched this movie tonight and really enjoyed it. I highly recommend it.

The movie had a very esoteric message, really cool story and beautiful cinematography. I thought it was very creative, and of course the voice acting was awesome. (Johnny Depp rocks :P)

One note though, I did think the movie was better for older kids rather than younger kids. Most of the really young kids in the theater seemed kind of confused/bored by the movie. But kids 12 and up and adults seemed really into it. I don't want to spoil it too much, but I think the people here would enjoy it cause it had a good message.

I give it my personal thumbs up

Well I saw it with a group of 12 year olds and they liked it, but i really didn't.

I found the script a bit pretentious, the refrences a little laboured and the homages to spaghetthi westerns a bit corny!

Still each to his own I guess?

Rango

It's a cute little animated film where Johnny Depp plays the lead character a lizard who's life is suddenly thrown into disarray as his owners were traveling down the highway out in the southwest of America. one scene he's play acting with inanimate friends in his fish tank, and the next minute he's flying through the air landing on the highway. This is where his adventure begins. He is walking along after the melee and he comes upon an armadillo on the highway,(the armadillo puts me in mind of Carlos Canstadena as he tells him the path he must follow). It's a funny little show the would be great to watch with the kids. It also has an esoteric meaning to it.

Er my bad

Re: Rango

I recently watched this one and was fascinated by the attention to detail - I am not certain kids would understand a lot of what is going on in this movie-it's pretty deep...I got some of the reference to Don Juan / Castenada and also "spoiler"alert! the psychopathic Mayor and his henchman controlling the people of the town by controlling their water supply (a re-curring theme in our real world)

The voice acting is first rate, the animation is incredible-and "spoiler" alert! The scene with the "Man with No Name" (Legend of the West) was a scream-Tim Olyphant does a spot on Clint Eastwood! Not too sure kids would even know what that is all about but old spaghetti Western fans will get it!

In all I found it entertaining, but not too sure this is a "kids" movie-and without some background in esoteric study a lot will be lost even on adult viewers

Re: Rango

Just making a quick note here for mods, I also started a thread about this movie a bit a go, perhaps we can merge them? Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up, they are now merged.

Watched it last night, enjoyed it heaps... Did anyone else notice that the car windscreen which he lands on with the smiley face on his head was actually driven by Hunter S. Thompson/Johnny Depp from 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'?
