Ohio University Considers "Re-Education" for Those Caught Smoking
Thursday, July 17 2014, 10:39 AM EDT

ATHENS (Kate Murphy) -- Ohio University students could be sent to 're-education' classes if caught disregarding the university smoking ban.

The university plans to ban smoking cigarettes and e-cigarettes during the 2015-2016 academic school year. This policy will be enforced throughout the entire 1,850-acre campus. There will be no designated smoking zones.

These re-education classes aim to help students quit smoking.

Under current Ohio law, smoking is banned in workplaces and other enclosed public places.

Ohio University is currently working on ways to inform students about the new anti-smoking policy.
