Recurring theme from the past few months

Lately, I've noticed a recurring theme in my dreams from the past few months to a year. These dreams are rather infrequent, maybe once every two months or so, but became a bit more frequent lately. The theme is basically leaving my car somewhere, often in NYC, and having to go back to get it. Usually, this involves taking a train there(It's about 45 minutes on train from where I live), but more recently I came across a group of people who I knew from high school who offered me a ride to NYC because they were carpooling to work. The closest thing to an interpretation that I have been able to think of is regarding control over myself. The train can only go on its tracks, representing the most automatic and mechanical modes of being, and trying to get back to my car represents having more control over myself and the direction my life is going. Last night, I had a dream that I think supports this developing interpretation.

In my dream, I was driving a black jeep wrangler, which is the car I've been wanting to have for a few years now. Now, I don't obsess over wanting this car at all, I'm not really a "car guy" by any means, but it just seems like an ideal car to have when the winters get heavier, etc. (At least better than what I drive now, a toyota corolla from 1998, which is not really a car that can handle adverse weather.) In my dream, the jeep had a manual transmission(which I don't really know how to use, only theoretically), which I seemed to be using successfully, but out of skepticism, I stopped trying to change gears and using the clutch, and to my surprise, the car was actually automatic and switching gears on its own. The manual aspect of it was a mere illusion.

I think this car represents my new set of habits (drinking only distilled water, eating better quality meats, veggies, eggs, working out consistently, reading more, detoxing, etc.) as these are things that I want. So although I am not in a train anymore, have a better "vehicle to drive", with more possibilities and control than my previous one, I'm still not controlling the gears, meaning either the speed of my progress, or that I'm still in "autopilot"(because of automatic transmission).

Any thoughts on my interpretation?

Thank you for reading.

I don't have nothing to offer regarding interpretation of your dream, but I found your post searching of meaning of dreaming of train.

I wonder what have happend in your life after you wrote this dream that you can connect with dreaming of your black jeep wrangler?

My last night dream was about a train and it was pretty much vivid when I woke up, what makes me happy, I feel guilt when I don't remember my dreams, like I don't do enough for my health (conditions for better sleep).

Dream: I don't know how to stop this bloody white train

Somebody gave me opportunity to control this white train. It was not nice white train it looks like somebody painted very poorly and cheap. I was in panic because I had never drive the train (probably there is no many people who did :D) so I tried to observe what is for what. Also, there was only levers without the buttons. I couldn't find the lever to stop the train, but I have found lever to separate my wagon from the rest the train. Problem was because train vent on the very narrowly bridge and bends I was afraid that in the bend my wagon will crash. I had little time to make a good decision.

This dream was interesting also because the night before this I have dreamt that I'm driving a little car without a roof on a very narrow rood next to sea. In one moment I have almost end of the cliff but somehow I have managed to catch some fence and pull my self and the car again on the normal road.

I usually connect vehicles (probably because of traditional view of symbols in dreams) with direction and how we control the way that we are going. In that perspective it looks like I'm doing something wrong. Also, white color I associate with something spiritual. That could mean that my spirituality is poor and cheap .

Question is: who gave me opportunity to control the train?
And why there was not lever for stop the train?

Also, the bridge is usually symbol of connecting something, at least IMO.

So, train, white, panic, levers, bridge, control.

I know that is hard to interpret others people dreams, so I don't expect feedback, but everything could be helpful and appreciated.

Hey Guille,

Not that I am an expert on dream interpretation, but what you wrote about your dream does make a lot of sense to me FWIW :)

Dakota,

Maybe it is that you are separating yourself from "normal" society, breaking out alone so to speak, the train is in need of repair and that's the next step, repairing your vehicle before you can take greater control of where you're going.

Just my 2 cents

Very good point indeed, because I have only two months left before I start work again in very 'interesting' environment. You gave me totally another point of view. Thank you, I have to think about it.

Yesterday I had another idea what this train could mean for me. I felt much anger when I had opportunity to drive the train, and I have (in real life) problems with expressing anger in very bad way. Especially towards my self. And this is happening only when people that I love being 'unfair' towards me :/. I could be very compassion and understand many things but if I feel that someone is using me I start to feel almost like accumulation of anger inside of me. Like something is shaking in me and want to go out. Sometime I manage to observe what is happening inside and stop this, but sometimes I shout and say bad things. I'm not aggressive towards others in physical way, more like hitting the wall or door :-[.

Anger that I have felt with this train could be anger that I feel sometime. The thing that the train is white could be because I think that this anger is not dangerous and maybe it is. The narrow bridge and bends could be symbol of warning that I take all this very unadvisedly and naive. Also, I didn't find button to stop the train, but I have found lever to unhook my wagon what could implies my problem with dissociation.

Thing to think about it.

Furthermore, last night I have dreamt that I have to replaced Hillary in American administration and when I have been introduced with her jobs she was following me around with open mouth face :

Hello Dakota, I was wondering if your train might be one of those on this page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croatian_Railways

Anyway, trains always have what is called a "Dead man's handle" which the driver is required to hold at all times.
If you need to stop the train, just activate the handle. (In your dream, of course)

My grandfather was a train driver..

Nope, I didn't see the train from outside, just from inside. Also, I couldn't found the handle to stop. And that makes me think that this is connected with my negative emotions (anger in this case).
But, the bridge was interesting and it looks totally like this, old, western bridge:

hello, the vehicle in the dream, represents your body, as you perceive it (a car a bike a plane etc), the train is the journey of your life, where does the train goes? on the right or the left? usually if u are not left handed, left represents past and right future.
imagine a line where the present is in the middle, where do u put past and future? doing this simple test let you know if u are pure left handed or right. :)

Hi Dakota, between the three dreams, train, car, and Hillary dream, I see the common theme involving control and having to make decisions. Also, from the train dream, it seems you are angry you were put in that position where you had to take control, specially without the the "stop" lever.
I'm getting the idea that your dreams may be calling for you to make a decision in your life, to take control of something, perhaps it could be your anger reactions. Anger doesn't have a stop lever, like the train, so you have to find ways to let it come up but rather than stopping it you have to see what the "other levers" do, in practical terms possibly acknowledging the emotion, seeking to understand the program that is triggering it, and finding a good way to communicate it and air it out. Resorting to letting it out by hitting walls and doors is like the narrow bridge and sharp turns, because since it is a violent reaction that is being expressed, it might be difficult to always keep it in check, in my opinion at least. Perhaps the lever that lets you disconnect the wagon is a hint to take a step back from the situation and try to slow down, get a perspective on what is going on? Just a few thoughts.
The car dream seems to give hope that you can gain control of yourself/situation. The Hillary one makes me think of pressure being put on you by yourself or others to act in regards to this matter, or that the actions you must take are important, assuming it relates still to the train dream.

The other interpretation I had in mind was along the lines of what 987baz suggested, regarding the train potentially being where society is heading and you only have the option to separate yourself from it, before it's too late (who knows, maybe the bridge is unstable, turns too sharp, or a comet is going to hit it ). So then the interpretation can be thought of along the lines of you having a limited amount of time to make a decision which will have a strong effect on your future, based on whether you keep going, or choose to disconnect in a way and let yourself slow down. Perhaps it's the other way around, and you may feel that you WANT to disconnect, or stop to make a decision, but maybe on the other side of the bridge is a different reality. Again just some thoughts.

Regarding my dream, this past year I actually drove a black jeep wrangler! I was thinking of buying it and took it for a test drive, but that thing was a deathtrap. Between 2nd and 3rd gears, it would start shaking like a dog trying to dry itself. The bottom was rusting out, hadn't passed inspection, and check engine light was on, and as pretty as the new paint made it seem, I didn't want to get it. I did however very recently get a new car, a toyota rav4 2009, which can handle adverse weather much better than my old car and is over-all much more reliable. Symbolically, I think my habits and internal landscape have improved a lot since last year when I had that dream! I've been able to keep a lot of the new habits I decided on last year, as well as making new ones, and growing in ways I could not have foreseen, respecting the speed at which I need to go, and not trying to rush. A lot of it has to do with me getting rid of the attitude of trying to speed up progress, and just keep going without anticipating growth, but letting it happen. Thank you for asking! :)

This is sound like traditional Dream Book and I'm not sure that I or anyone else can rely on that. But I appreciate your suggestion. Thank you!

Dear Guille,
I apologize to be so late with my answer, I like to think about it when somebody give me response, especially because you gave me thoughts for thinking. I think that you really gave me great explanation. I'm working on my anger and try to control the way I spend my energy and time through the day.
I just found this great thread that says a lot of dreams. Somehow I missed before even there is big, bolded title ;). Good for start some real work on dreams.

Great for you, I'm glad that you managed to use your dream to see what you should improve in your life and really did it.
