Lately, I've noticed a recurring theme in my dreams from the past few months to a year. These dreams are rather infrequent, maybe once every two months or so, but became a bit more frequent lately. The theme is basically leaving my car somewhere, often in NYC, and having to go back to get it. Usually, this involves taking a train there(It's about 45 minutes on train from where I live), but more recently I came across a group of people who I knew from high school who offered me a ride to NYC because they were carpooling to work. The closest thing to an interpretation that I have been able to think of is regarding control over myself. The train can only go on its tracks, representing the most automatic and mechanical modes of being, and trying to get back to my car represents having more control over myself and the direction my life is going. Last night, I had a dream that I think supports this developing interpretation.
In my dream, I was driving a black jeep wrangler, which is the car I've been wanting to have for a few years now. Now, I don't obsess over wanting this car at all, I'm not really a "car guy" by any means, but it just seems like an ideal car to have when the winters get heavier, etc. (At least better than what I drive now, a toyota corolla from 1998, which is not really a car that can handle adverse weather.) In my dream, the jeep had a manual transmission(which I don't really know how to use, only theoretically), which I seemed to be using successfully, but out of skepticism, I stopped trying to change gears and using the clutch, and to my surprise, the car was actually automatic and switching gears on its own. The manual aspect of it was a mere illusion.
I think this car represents my new set of habits (drinking only distilled water, eating better quality meats, veggies, eggs, working out consistently, reading more, detoxing, etc.) as these are things that I want. So although I am not in a train anymore, have a better "vehicle to drive", with more possibilities and control than my previous one, I'm still not controlling the gears, meaning either the speed of my progress, or that I'm still in "autopilot"(because of automatic transmission).
Any thoughts on my interpretation?
