I don't know that much about outgoing Rep. Cynthia McKinney other than that incident in which she slapped a Capitol cop, but I applaud her standing up to Pelosi and introducing a bill to impeach Bush and for berating the Dem party for kowtowing to Repubs on the war and everything else. No doubt, this (and the fact that she entertains 9/11 conspiracy theories) is why she was ousted in the primary stage of her re-election campaign.

Pelosi is absolutely betraying the American people by not addressing their primary concern as indicated in exit polls: political corruption. By not censuring the president nor investigating the admin's misdeeds, it's as good as shouting "business as usual!" from Capitol Hill.

Rep. McKinney's parting shot: Bill to impeach Bush

WASHINGTON (AP) -- In what was likely her final legislative act in Congress, outgoing Georgia Rep. Cynthia McKinney announced a bill Friday to impeach President Bush.

The legislation has no chance of passing and serves as a symbolic parting shot not only at Bush but also at Democratic leaders. Incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, has made clear that she will not entertain proposals to sanction Bush and has warned the liberal wing of her party against making political hay of impeachment.

[...]

In the bill, she accused Bush of misleading Congress on the war in Iraq and violating privacy laws with his domestic spying program.

McKinney has made no secret of her frustration with Democratic leaders since voters ousted her from office in the Democratic primary this summer. In a speech Monday at George Washington University, she accused party leaders of kowtowing to Republicans on the war in Iraq and on military mistreatment of prisoners.

McKinney, who has not discussed her career plans, has increasingly embraced her image as a controversial figure.

She has served as host for numerous panels on September 11 conspiracy theories and suggested that Bush had prior knowledge of the terrorist attacks but kept quiet about it to allow friends to profit from the aftermath.

I'm so disgusted by the whole sham of American "democracy," that it's truly inspiring to occasionally read of true patriots like Cynthia McKinney. A discussion I recently overheard provides perfect commentary to this sad state of affairs in America.

The topic: which was the bigger mafia--the Catholic Church or the United States Congress.
