So, in the span of four minutes, Gervais managed to make an enemy of Charlie Sheen, Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Cher, the entire cast and crew of Sex and the City 2, the Church of Scientology, Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Hugh Hefner, and Hugh Hefner's fiancée.

I hope I have not fallen into the post-celebrity-gossip trap now, I think there is something in there that is interesting.

While he's telling the truth, which Hollywood abhors, he's not really making any social commentary. So it amounts to scandal and attention for the glitterati and distraction for the peasants.

Thanks for the comment, yes, with what we know about the state of the world. This is just like you said Perceval, a scandal and attention bit. The quote Laura used to have before about a man being about to die in a few days and his mind sharpening because his realization of his predicament really hits home.

I was sure I wanted to post it when I saw it, then I had a long internal dialog about why I wanted to post it, took a while for me to justify and it, I guess that is a good sign. Focus removes much of the fluff that is "entertainment."
