I think the following links are relevant to this thread. Here you see that the terminator is already under development although the story is that its for distater areas, fires and that sort of stuff, but we here know how well intended inventions by well meaning scientists and engineers can be co-opted and twisted into something horrible.
That said, This one is a running robot: http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2011/08/running-robot/ it gave me the willies watching that thing run like that. Brrr, :O
And this: http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2011/08/pocketbots/ although not as scary as the one above it still just goes to show how we on earth badly need a reset.
