The Bum Bot's reputation, it seems, has preceded it.
The electronic vigilante - on the beat since September - has enraged neighbourhood activists, who have threatened protests. Street people say it's intimidating. And homeless advocates question the intentions of its inventor, who uses the Bum Bot as a marketing tool and a political prop.

That YTube video really brings a creepy memory from the future. No need to worry about real soldiers "malfunctioning" because of consciousness glitches while doing "what has to be done"!

And they are also trainning a global army of First Person Shooter game freaks who can control these things with total dissociation, and after their watch return to their wife and kids. "It's just a job to feed the family" after all. Psychopaths and these machines have so much in common that it makes a lot of sense to assume that they will get along just fine...

The robots of private citizens patrolling and harassing people with the acceptance and approval as a wacky novelty by citizens is disconcerting as the pathocrats might ease in surveillance drones and street level “robocop” type machinery with greater ease than thought.
Trading liberty for the perception of security seems all too common these days since “Transmarginal Inhibition Day” in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.
Mr Terrill's righteous indignation is only surpassed by his ignorance of the people he has deemed worthy of his mechanistic rage, as evidenced by this quote -

"There are children in our neighbourhood that use that day care centre," he says. "People are coming on private property, they're defecating, they're throwing crack needles, sometimes they're throwing crack rocks."
Crack needles? Throwing crack rocks?

Imagine one of these marching around with a camera and mounted taser or gun!

The DARPA funded "Big Dog" is truly creepy, but it won't be sneaking up on anyone, what with the racket it makes. I imagine the stealth boys at the skunk works will be called in as soon as the bugs get further worked out.

I saw a brief clip on Stephen Colbert's show, it seems like he´s using a ordinary RC-controller. I think the rage of those are pretty bad and it does not seem to contain a remote-camera, wouldn't it be very awkward and ridiculous to go behind the bot and control it to shoot water at people?
