Sara McLachlan sings "The Prayer of St. Francis"

The Living Force
Like perhaps many of you, I was nearly entranced by Sara McLachlan's voice when she came on the scene in the late '90's. Those early songs from Surfacing and Fumbling Towards Ecstasy still evoke some of my deepest emotions since they're so associated with the first blinks of awakening I experienced during those years when all facets of my life were in upheaval.

Since then, I haven't really kept up with her music, until today, when I stumbled upon this video of a "new" song she's recorded. The lyrics are actually the "old" Prayer of St. Francis sung in her beautiful ethereal, soulful, serene style.

What makes it even better is that she's accompanied by a girl's choir at the music school that she apparently created with some of the multi-millions earned from her music, which in itself, was a joy to consider in that it's such a STO response to the universe which has generously given her so much talent and opportunity over the years.

I hope it's as uplifting to you as it was for me. Enjoy!

The Prayer of St. Francis

Where there is hatred let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
And where there is sadness, joy.

Oh Divine Master grant that I may, not so much
Seek to be consoled, but to console,
To be understood, as to understand.
To be loved, as to love.

For it's in giving that we receive
And it's in pardoning that we are pardoned
And it's in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.

Very nicely sung. Thanks for sharing, JGeropoulas.

I once had the opportunity to attend one of her concerts and she and her group of musicians were marvelous.
