The Living Force
I just went to buy some groceries. Typically it's quick trip to pick up the 5 healthy products they stock. I was almost out of harms way when I was punched in the gut by the front page of USA Today depicting the election results. Except for a fringe of blue Democrats on each coast, the entire U.S. was blood red everywhere!
I did a few pipe breaths on my trip to the health food store. That shopping trip took a little longer and provided some needed distraction from the Tea Party Take-Over.
Then while waiting in line to pay, I saw the cover of Mother Jones. Their revamp of that classic B movie poster (link below) was such creative, delightful satire that I laughed out loud. My levity was quickly leveled by the subtitle lamenting, "A confused and frightened citizenry votes against its own self-interest".
The stupidity of sheep trusting shepherds always saddens me. My sadness only worsened upon seeing another article hitting closer to the core problem: "Invasion of the Brain-Devouring Platitudes" (or was it "Paramoralisms"?)
Anyway, here's that "laugh out loud" part. Enjoy it--for a minute at least.

(once on the webpage, scroll down a little to click on the video animation of the cover)
Here's another cartoon depicting efforts to rescue Americans from a flood of Red ink which acompanies the article, "Attack On The Middle Class (First they came for your paycheck. Then your house. What's next?)." The superhero is screaming, "it's only rescuing people at the top!"
