I was reading some financial news and came across this interesting story:
$39 billion sounded like some generous bribery until I did the math for the 25,731,776 Saudi citizens. If I carried all the zeros correctly, this "generous" offer amounts to only $1,500 per person! No wonder they're still planning a "day of rage."
Interesting ploy by the Sheiks in Saudi Arabia. It certainly demonstrates the enormous, disproportionate wealth they've siphoned off the country. And, that the only value psychopaths attached to wealth is how much control it can buy.
Looks like the price of control has gone up. Now, that's some inflation to cheer about!
Speaking of "control," did you catch the little tid-bit that the U.S. may "assist" the rebels. Reminds me of what Reagan said, "The nine most terrifying words in the English language, are, 'I’m from the government and I’m here to help you.' ”
And, just who is it exactly, who's in charge of "labeling" groups anyway? (i.e. "Protesters in Libya have been relabeled as rebels")
Tensions began in Tunisia and quickly spread to Egypt, Yemen, Jordan, Bahrain, Algeria, Morocco, Iran, Iraq, and Libya. Protesters in Libya have been relabeled “rebels,” and were said to be 30 miles outside of Tripoli. U.S. Secretary of State Clinton suggested that the U.S. may assist rebels, and the U.S. military began maneuvering ships around Libya in the Mediterranean. Protests spread to Oman yesterday (produces 860,000 barrels/day), and there are still fears that tensions will spread to Saudi Arabia for a “day of rage” planned in that country on March 11th. Even though the Saudi Kingdom agreed to pay $39B in stipends to its citizenry."
