Hi all,
There is a show in Australia that they put on at 9:30 every wednesday night called "Beyond the Darklands". (I am not sure if it is an Aussie exclusive TV show or if it is shown anywhere else in the world, as I have never actually seen it).
Anyway, they put the adverts on for it during the day, and they showed bits and pieces about this week's killer. Something about "the police were shocked to find what was behind that door) and then showing his bedroom door in a scary- vibed scene. And get this - the last image you see in that approx. ten second advert for the show (don't quote me on the estimated time :P) is this killer with one of those chequered flannelette shirts and a beanie, pulling a really, evil scary face
Why does this amuse me??
Because I questioned after that advert, what's with the evil face pulling?
Surely, as a psychopath you do evil things and everything but it was as if he had pulled the face as if to say "Look at me, I'm soo good, I like to kill people." In other words, it was an ego/image thing. And in my opinion, the TV network are just as f-ed for showing some complete idiot serial killer pulling some evil face. I don't know why it amused me and peed me off at the same time (in a "how ridiculous" sense) but it made me think. The TV networks are showing these programs (with names like beyond the darklands, etc) and putting scary adverts on with freaky bedroom doors and serial killers pulling stupid faces as if to try to scare the living poo out of us.
And then it comes to that emotion. FEAR.
To walk this STO path one of the requirements is to fear nothing. We learn to be noble and brave, so we can learn see through the stupid evil faces and scary bedroom doors. The TV network puts this stuff on to scare us, with the dark themes and so on.
And I guess when I realised that this deranged psychopathic killer was pulling a face it was just a scare tactic, from he himself AND the TV network for showing the face.
So I laughed.
In these coming times, I think we have to deal with these types of issues. You can't deny that the society is getting more violent by the second.
