I'm curious whether anyone here can confirm this apparent trend among schools in their area.
Remember a couple of years ago SOTT reported on plans for schools that involved whisking students away, in the event of "an emergency," to secure locations that not even parents were privvy to? I got a friend of mine who is a mother and ex-teacher to confirm that this was the case in her kids' school -- she had not been notified of such a plan, and she said she had to push a bit to get them to admit it, and that they were rather tight-lipped about details. So much for democracy and transparency, eh?
I heard on the radio about drills in Lexington MA schools for a new "lockdown" procedure. When I tried to find the story on the 'net, I found that actual lockdowns had recently occurred in Lexington SC and Lexington KY! What is going on? At the least, they're acclimating kids to the notion that there is impending emergency in which anything could happen.

Boston (WBZ Newsroom) -- Starting next week, the students at Waltham High School will have to wear laminated photo i.d.'s, part of a nationwide trend to beef up security in schools.
So, what effect will such labeling and locking down have on students? Make them fearful? Make them angry? Make them want to get back at terrorists?
