Martha Stout talked about her book The Paranoia Switch: How Terror Rewires Our Brains and Reshapes Our Behavior--and How We Can Reclaim Our Courage, published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. In her book she describes the American public’s fear-based responses to terrorist attacks, global warming, and natural disasters and offers advice about how to curb those fears. She responded to questions from members of the audience.

Martha Stout is a psychologist and former professor at the Harvard Medical School.

Thanks for finding this c.a. It was nice to see the face behind the book. Martha is one sharp lady, who sees the psycholo0gical manipulations of politics clearly. I especially loved how she handled the question from the guy who was trying to twist the idea that Muslims are suffering from the same sort of trauma, so that's why 'they did 9/11". But mostly the level of questions from the audience was very high. I need to reread it. Interestingly, this book is not available in print anymore. I ordered from a bookstore who had to bring in a second-hand copy. You can still get it on kindle, and second hand.
