I would say it is noteworthy due to the Sex Pistols truly iconic status as scoffers of the established order; oF pointing out the emperor's lack of clothes in a big way. (e.g., God Save the Queen) They REALLY stretched the envelope for all of us back in the 70's. Consider the antithetical counterpoint: the BeeGees of the same era. Saturday night fever? The Pistols were a major wake-up call. For that, they deserve to be in the conversation here. They had the guts to scream out some truths most people preferred to avoid. Same as it ever was.
So now - to be on a credit card? You can view it as a sell-out or as their cynical sense of humor. Or, just a payday. Different ways to look at it.
Kind of like the first time I heard the muzak version of Stairway to Heaven in a supermarket while strolling down the food aisles. A 'What the...?' moment.
But then, maybe this should be in the music section?
God save the Queen
The fascist regime,
They made you a moron
A potential H-bomb
God save the Queen
She ain't no human being
There is no future
And England's dreaming
Don't be told what you want
Don't be told what you need
There's no future
No future
No future for you
God save the Queen
We mean it man
We love our Queen
God saves
God save the Queen
'Cause tourists are money
And our figurehead
Is not what she seems
Oh God save history
God save your mad parade
Oh Lord God have mercy
All crimes are paid
When there's no future
How can there be sin
We're the flowers
In the dustbin
We're the poison
In your human machine
We're the future
You're future
